Searches for the fictional town of “Loch Henry” have surged over the past week following the release of Black Mirror season six on June 15th, with thousands of people searching for the location.
The episode, following a young couple that travels to a sleepy Scottish town to start work on a genteel nature documentary, but find themselves drawn to a juicy local story involving shocking events of the past, is the second episode of the latest season of the famed Black Mirror, the British anthology television series created by Charlie Brooker.
The Google Trends data, discovered by Amazon Slots, reveals that – somewhat surprisingly – the people of Scotland were the ones most interested in the fictional town, followed by Northern Ireland, England, and Wales.
A spokesperson for Amazon Slots commented on the data, saying:
“The findings indicating a significant increase in Google searches for a Loch Henry following the release of Black Mirror season six are intriguing and reflect the powerful influence that media and entertainment can have on public interest and curiosity.
“This phenomenon highlights the impact of popular culture in shaping people’s online behaviour and generating interest in various subjects. When a TV show captures viewers’ attention and resonates with them, it often increases engagement beyond the screen. Viewers may seek to further immerse themselves in the show’s universe by exploring related content, including information about the fictional locations portrayed.”
The study was conducted by online slot site Amazon Slots, a casino site created by bingo specialists Jumpman Gaming Limited.
