Barbs, the vibrant Caribbean food brand redefining how Britain experiences Bajan cuisine, has officially landed in Shoreditch, opening its first-ever restaurant space at the iconic Queen of Hoxton.
Following the success of its Deliveroo Editions kitchen and the launch of its signature Bajan sauces, Barbs is taking things up a notch — transforming its loyal delivery following into an immersive, dine-in experience that captures the true taste and soul of Barbados.
A Taste of Barbados in the Heart of East London
The new Barbs at Queen of Hoxton celebrates the island’s unmistakable spirit of flavour, togetherness, and joy — perfectly at home in one of London’s most creative cultural hubs. The venue, part of the Mothership Group, has long been a Shoreditch staple for nightlife, art, and community, making it the ideal home for Barbs’ debut restaurant.
“This is a proud step for us. Barbs is all about real food and real Bajan flavour, cooked the way it’s meant to be,” says Nicc Wright, Founder of Barbs. “We’ve taken our family recipes and traditional techniques and created something that feels completely at home in Shoreditch.”
What’s on the Menu?
Barbs’ menu brings authentic island cooking into a modern, fast-casual setting — with every dish made from scratch using fresh, wholesome ingredients and recipes passed down through generations.
Highlights include:
-
Bajan Fried Chicken and Fried Fish Burgers – marinated in authentic green seasoning and served with soused cucumber, crispy onions, and the fan-favourite Fancy Sauce.
-
Bajan Roti Wraps – soft, flavour-packed wraps filled with Curry Chicken and Potato or Chickpea and Potato.
-
Bajan Fishcakes and Pumpkin Fritters – street food classics reimagined for Shoreditch.
-
Mac Pie Balls – a playful twist on Barbados’ traditional macaroni pie, paired with a fermented sweet chilli dip.
-
Soused Guac and Barbs Wings – inspired by the bright, citrusy notes of souse, one of Barbados’ most beloved dishes.

Piña Colada Waffle – the ultimate island dessert featuring pineapple sorbet, coconut ice cream, and a rich coconut drizzle.
Each dish comes with a lineup of house-made sauces, including the creamy Fancy Sauce, herby Mayo, and the fiery Bajan Hot Pepper Sauce crafted from cucumber, turmeric, and mustard.
A Fusion of Cultures
The partnership between Barbs and Queen of Hoxton marks a new era for both brands — blending Shoreditch’s creative energy with the authentic flavours of Barbados. It’s a cultural crossover that brings sunshine to East London, no matter the weather.
