where to go now: OPENTABLE

Following the reopening of pubs and restaurants on April 12th, OpenTable, the world’s leading provider of online restaurant reservations, has today announced the launch of its All-Weather TableWear.

Outdoor eateries are back buzzing with excitement as diners are able to return to their favourite hotspots. A recent survey by OpenTable found that 39%1 of consumers planned to book an outdoor table as soon as dining reopened; 60% of Brits have missed their favourite local restaurant during lockdown with plans to eat there now that they can; and 73% are planning to spend the same amount at restaurants as they did before lockdown.

OpenTable also continues to track seated diner numbers from online, phone and walk-in reservations, through its State of the Industry data insight, and statistics reveal that on Monday 12th April, reservations across the UK were approaching pre-COVID levels (down by only 21%2 compared to 2019 levels), with indoor dining yet to open.

However with the British Spring weather constantly fluctuating between April showers, blistering sun and the odd flurry of snow, it’s difficult to predict how the day or evening will turn out and more importantly, what to wear. To help make this easier for restaurant goers, OpenTable has launched its All-Weather TableWear, designed to allow diners to eat out, whatever the weather.

Created by British costume designer Thomas Roe of WhiteStar Clothing, The All-Weather TableWear is equipped with a host of handy features allowing diners to comfortably eat outside in all weather conditions. There is a heated pocket to warm hands and the body when the temperature drops, so rest assured your fingers are always warm enough to pick up a knife and fork. For those unexpected bursts of sunshine, sun cream sticks are attached to the right arm of the poncho to keep diners protected from any rays. For those still not in the habit of remembering to carry a face mask everywhere they go, the All-Weather TableWear also includes a handy built-in face mask so diners can safely enjoy eating out with friends and family.

Those who are interested in the new item are in luck as OpenTable is offering four lucky people the chance to win their very own All-Weather TableWear garment.

The poncho also features:

  • A peaked hood to keep diners’ heads dry and warm, and protected against harsh wind and rain.
  • A pair of sunglasses attached to a cord and with their own pocket, preventing wearers from losing or breaking this essential outdoor dining accessory!
  • A hand sanitiser carabina gives the wearer constant access to sanitiser, keeping hands hygienic and sanitised between each course.
