Where Cocktails Meet Meat: Monkey 47 Launches Wunderbar ‘Black Forest Bundele’

Schwarzwald premium gin brand Money 47 has celebrated the launch of its new Distiller’s Cut edition with maple syrup by partnering with top London butchery Turner & George, to create limited edition Black Forest Bundele which features all ingredients and recipes for a sizzling meat and cocktail night.

In addition to quality gin and bacon, the bundele contains the finest venison and recipe cards curated by an expert Turner & George butcher as the perfect pairing for Distiller’s Cut.

Monkey 47 is a batch distilled and handcrafted gin from Germany’s Schwarzwald. In total, 47 handpicked plant ingredients prepared in extremely soft water from the Black Forest give Monkey 47 unrivalled complexity and quality. For the 13th year, Distiller’s Cut is the limited-edition bottle of Monkey 47 featuring an exclusive 48th botanical, with 2023’s addition being maple syrup.

Available in limited quantities, the new Acer Sacchurum bottle includes Canadian Cosman & Webb syrup as a unique flavour to compliment the carefully-selected botanicals. The 2023 Distiller’s Cut is a spicy and elegant dry gin that features a delicate, sweet note with a hint of caramel against a background of exceptional density and complexity.

As a poll of 2,000 Brits found ‘sweet’ to be the nation’s favourite flavour profile (72%) and a third of Brits liking maple syrup as a cocktail addition (36%), the high-quality butcher’s box partnership is the perfect way to get a taste of Germany’s Black Forest at home. Speaking about Distiller’s Cut, Liam Murphy, Brand Director for Monkey 47, said:

To celebrate the launch, the brand has also partnered with award-winning bartender Rich Woods to create Breakfast in the Black Forest, an exclusive cocktail using new Distiller’s Cut. Crafted using the finest ingredients, Breakfast in the Black Forest pays homage to the much-loved flavour pairing of syrup and bacon, and includes a blackberry and peppercorn infusion along with sweet vermouth, topped with a bacon and maple espuma and candied bacon garnish.

With a third (36%) of Brits putting their home bartending skills to good use at least once a week in new research by Monkey 47, master mixologist Rich Woods has created exclusive how-to video content to gift his Wunderbar skills to the nation, with a recipe card also included in the Black Forest Bundele. Speaking about the launch, Rich Woods said:

“The cocktail I’ve created is sizzling with sweet and savoury flavours to honour the maple and bacon combination. This year’s Distiller’s Cut is a gorgeous pairing of German botanicals and Canadian syrup, and I hope budding bartenders can use my tutorials to wow their friends with Breakfast in the Black Forest.”

As part of the unique launch, nine in 10 (93%) Brits say they love home cocktail-making, a further 91% agree that using good quality ingredients is key. Brits are splashing the cash on premium products, spending an average of £33 a month on home cocktail ingredients.
