As tradition dictates, Friday 27th of September marks National Katsu Curry Day, and it is back with a bang at the beginning of the university year. Nourishing the nation with katsu curries for years, this is their most iconic dish, and wagamama is offering free katsus to celebrate. Students can claim their katsu by becoming members of the noodle union, when signing up to wagamama’s newly launched loyalty app, soul club, and selecting student.
National Katsu Curry Day this year follows the recent news that Gen-Z queen, GK Barry, famed for her hugely popular ‘Saving Grace’ podcast is announced as the new wagamama noodle union President, as she takes the crown from predecessor Niko Omilana. Katsu fans at wagamama’s Covent Garden restaurant, in London, will experience a visit from no other than President Grace herself with the chance to meet her as she serves katsus to the tables. In addition, 10 lucky noodle union members will have the chance to bag a limited edition wagamama long-sleeved t-shirt, made of 70% of recycled old wagamama uniform t-shirts, powered by PANGAIA; as part of the latest drop from the collab.
Exclusively available to university students and apprentices signed up to soul club, 50 katsus will be up for grabs at every wagamama restaurant across the UK, from when the restaurant opens, until 1pm, on Friday 27th September 2024. In addition to the classic curries, noodle union members will also have the option to order the new chicken katsu waffle or banana katsu waffle fresh from the new brunch menu, which launched in July this year, at the 22 participating brunch locations.
wagamama noodle union President, GK Barry says:
“In the iconic twist that I am now the President of the noodle union, it would be rude not to bring back the equally iconic National Katsu Curry Day in September, and this year, it’s going to be bigger and better than ever and I can’t wait to meet some of you. Watch this space as I have got plans for you people – there is going to be loads of amazing content, giveaways and merch throughout the year so keep an eye out for what we have got for you!”
