Velo Brings McLaren Mastercard Formula 1® Team Energy to Oxford Street With Week-Long Racing Pop-Up at Future Stores

London is about to get a taste of the Formula 1 paddock — without leaving Oxford Street.

From 15–21 June, Future Stores will be transformed into an immersive racing experience hosted by performance brand Velo, celebrating its partnership with the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1® Team.

The week-long takeover brings together full-scale motorsport spectacle, competitive sim racing, exclusive merchandise, and a headline “Come Race Me” challenge that puts members of the public directly against professional racing talent.

At the centre of it all is Izzy Hammond, who will be setting lap times for visitors to beat across state-of-the-art simulators on June 20th. The first to beat her will gain access to a once-in-a-lifetime experience at Velo’s private suite at Silverstone’s Hilton Garden Inn for the British Grand Prix, offering views of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1® Team from the starting grid. If you can’t make it on that day, there will be other chances to get your hands on this exclusive experience throughout the week. The pop-up is open June 15th – 21st.

THE “COME RACE ME” CHALLENGE

The highlight of the activation takes place on Saturday 20 June, when the “Come Race Me” competition opens to the public.

Visitors will have the chance to go head-to-head against Izzy Hammond on the racing simulators in a fastest-lap format. Two winners will be selected —securing pairs of tickets to watch the British Grand Prix from Velo’s exclusive Silverstone hospitality suite.

Even those who don’t top the leaderboard won’t leave empty-handed, with additional prizes available for strong performances throughout the day.

The challenge is simple: Set your fastest lap. Beat Izzy. Win big.

HOSTS, CULTURE AND COMMUNITY ENERGY

The experience will be hosted by Verge CEO Andre Dixon, who will also guide visitors through the competition, showcase daily highlights, and capture live reactions from participants on the ground.

Supporting the cultural and social amplification is F1 creator Gabs, who will bring behind-the-scenes coverage and real-time energy from the floor of the activation — helping translate the experience across social platforms.

The week has also been previewed on motorsport-focused content platform OFFTRK podcast, where discussions have centred around the growing crossover between F1 culture, digital racing, and immersive fan experiences.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT FUTURE STORES

Across the week, visitors can explore:

  • A full-size McLaren Mastercard Formula 1® Team car display
  • High-performance racing simulators
  • Exclusive Velo x McLaren merchandise
  • Interactive leaderboard competitions
  • Live hosting, content moments and giveaways

Whether you’re a long-time motorsport fan or simply curious about the sport’s growing cultural influence, the pop-up is designed to bring the intensity of race weekend into the heart of London.

WHY YOU SHOULD GO

  • Formula 1 has never been more accessible — or more competitive.
  • This isn’t a passive exhibition. It’s a challenge.
  • From casual visitors to serious sim racers, everyone has the same opportunity: get in the seat, push for the perfect lap, and test yourself against one of the most recognisable rising names in British motorsport.
  • And if you’re fast enough, you won’t just win — you’ll find yourself on the starting grid at Silverstone.
