World of Warcraft Delves: What’s New in 12.0.5

Delves returned in The War Within and quickly became the go-to activity for players who want to progress without the overhead of a raid or Mythic+ group. Midnight keeps that spirit intact and builds on it. With patch 12.0.5 live as of April 21, 2026, it is a good time to review what has changed and where Delves sit in the current season. For players who prefer to delegate the grind, a wow boosting service on Boostmatch is worth knowing about. For everyone doing it themselves, here is a breakdown of the current state of Delves in 12.0.5.

The Basics: What Delves Are in Midnight Season 1

Delves in Midnight are short, instanced scenarios for one to five players, spread across ten locations in Quel’Thalas. Each run takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes and contributes directly to your Great Vault progress in the World content row. The difficulty ceiling is Tier 11, and the reward ceiling for direct end-of-run loot sits at Tier 8.

Key mechanics from The War Within carry over with adjustments:

  • Bountiful Delves: marked with a glowing icon on the map: are the only version that offers scaling Champion and Hero gear from the Bountiful Coffer at the end.
  • Regular Delves cap out at item level 227 (Adventurer 3/6) at Tier 3 and do not scale further, so there is no reason to run them above that threshold without a Coffer Key.
  • Restored Coffer Keys are now a Coffer Key Shards currency that auto-converts into full keys when you zone in, eliminating the old bag-space issue.
  • Completing 2, 4, or 8 Delves per week fills slots in the Great Vault, with Tier 8 runs needed to unlock the Hero-track vault option at 259 item level.

Bountiful Delve Tiers: Gear and Reward Summary

Tier End Gear (ilvl) Vault Reward Revives
1–3 Up to 227 (Adv 3/6) No limit
4–5 227–233 (Veteran) Veteran track 5
6–7 233–246 (Champion 1/6) Champion track 5
8–10 259 (Hero 1/6) Hero track (259 ilvl) 3–5
11 (Gilded Stash) 259 + Myth Dawncrests Hero/Myth track 3

Valeera Sanguinar: Your New Companion

Brann Bronzebeard has passed the torch. Valeera Sanguinar is the Midnight Delve companion, and she functions quite differently from her predecessor. Her reputation is tracked as a Warband-wide stat, so progress on your main carries over to every alt. Her level cap is 60 during Season 1, and she gains experience from enemy kills, Bountiful Delves, and looting Mislaid Curiosities. Past level 15, only Bountiful Delves grant her experience, which is one more reason to prioritize those over regular clears.

Valeera’s role is set at any checkpoint by pressing H. The three options:

  • Damage Dealer is the fastest-clear option and works well for tanks and healers who already cover their own survivability.
  • Healer is the safest default for solo DPS, especially in Tiers 9 to 11, since Valeera’s Vampiric Reaping mechanic acts as consistent healing between pulls.
  • Tank is the niche pick for fragile specs that need Valeera to hold attention, though it is the least reliable role in high-tier content and has received hotfixes since launch.

Her curio slots: one Combat and one Utility: further customize her output. The currently recommended default pairing is Sanctum’s Edict in the Combat slot and Ebon Crown of Subjugation in the Utility slot. Curios scale with tier and should be upgraded by looting higher-rank versions from Bountiful Chests. Your own item level also directly increases Valeera’s damage output, so gearing your character is simultaneously an investment in your companion.

What Patch 12.0.5 Actually Adds to Delves

The patch did not rewrite Delves, but it connected them to two new systems that increase their endgame relevance.

Voidforge Integration

The Voidforge is the headline gearing system in 12.0.5. Bountiful Delves are part of its eligible content pool:

  • Completing a Bountiful Delve allows you to spend a Nebulous Voidcore for a bonus random item from that content’s loot pool, at a cost of one core per use.
  • Once the Ascendant Nilhammer is crafted via Warband-wide progression, Ascendant Voidcores drop from Bountiful Delves and enable item-level increases on eligible Hero and Myth weapons and trinkets.
  • The knockout system removes already-obtained items from the loot pool per difficulty, so later Voidcore spends in the same content become progressively more efficient.
  • Raid bosses cost two Voidcores per bonus roll, while Bountiful Delves cost one, making Delves the cheaper option for building toward Voidforge value.

Ritual Sites and the Great Vault World Row

Ritual Sites are a new 12.0.5 activity for one to five players with selectable challenge tiers. Their relevance to Delves players is direct: they count toward the same World content row in the Great Vault. Running both activities in the same week gives you more options for filling that Vault row without repeating content.

Other 12.0.5 changes relevant to Delve players:

  • Nullaeus, the Midnight Season 1 Delve Nemesis, can be summoned inside a run using the Beacon of Hope item, which is awarded from the weekly Nightmare Prey quest.
  • Completing a Tier 11 Bountiful Delve with lives remaining grants a Gilded Stash containing seven Myth Dawncrests, repeatable up to three times per week at Delver’s Journey Rank 4.
  • The Sign of the Explorer weekly buff, when active, grants a 25% boost to Delver’s Journey progress, Valeera XP, and Undercoin gains for the entire week.
  • Delver’s Journey Rank 8 enables Champion Warbound gear drops from Tier 9 and higher Delves, which are usable across your entire Warband.

Is It Worth Running Delves in 12.0.5?

For solo players and small groups, Delves remain one of the most efficient paths from fresh 90 to full Champion gear. Tier 8 Bountiful Delves deliver Hero-track Great Vault slots and now feed directly into the Voidforge bonus roll economy. The addition of Ritual Sites adds competition for the World Vault row, but the two activities complement each other rather than overlap.

The Delver’s Journey rewards consistent weekly clears over time rather than burst farming, which suits casual schedules. Tier 11 runs for Gilded Stash Myth Dawncrests justify the effort, especially combined with the weekly Voidcore system.
