TRAINLINE LAUNCHES CBD CHOO CHEWS

Trainline has partnered with Goodrays to releaseChoo Chews‘, the first CBD gummies tailored for train travellers heading off on their holidays. The gummies are being given away for free to passengers via a vending machine, helping them to sit back and relax as they start their holiday trip with a CBD gummy.

To get journeys off to a great start, the gummies will be available to anyone aged over 18* – whether they’re setting off on a day trip, a weekend away or simply to enjoy a train ride.

New research has revealed over half of Brits (53%) think eating is the best way to make the most of their time on the train. While 36% enjoy a tipple to help them relax into their journey, with a majority (57%) believing it’s perfectly acceptable to crack open a ‘gin in a tin’ on a train.

Trainline’s research also reveals that the wrong snack can actually have the opposite affect – with smoked mackerel (49%) and boiled eggs (43%) topping the list of the least appealing foods to be eaten on a train. The safest options are chocolate bars (69%) and soft sweets (63%) being voted the least offensive snacks to tuck into on a train.

With train snacks clearly being a popular pastime amongst travellers, over a third of Brits (38%) agree that they’d be happy for people to eat on trains as long as the food wasn’t odorous and if seats both in front and behind you are empty (49%).

In fact, three in ten (31%) admit journeys are boring if they just have tea and biscuits to snack on. For those unsure on which snack to go for, the Trainline Choo Chews make for a perfect nibble, available in a range of delicious fruit flavours.

During longer journeys, it appears that train picnics are on the rise, as nearly 5 in 10 (45%) admit to taking a full picnic spread when embarking on a longer journey via train. More than half (52%) also feel that having a meal on a train is the best way to utilise the journey time.

On-train picnics are particularly popular when travelling for a weekend away (35%), while 17% will ensure they always board the train with plenty of food to eat when going on a stag or hen do. Some even admit to bringing along a sushi platter for the trip, and one respondent always packs prosecco and posh picnic bites when heading for Royal Ascot.

Outside of snacking, listening to music (66%) tops the list for the ways to make a train journey more relaxing, followed by getting lost in a book (45%) and watching a film (29%).

Train travellers can grab their sample of the Choo Chews from a pop-up vending machine in King’s Cross Station on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th May, between 9:30-16:30 or whilst stocks last.
