Now that theatres are opening back up, its time to get excited about upcoming releases! 2022 has an extensive line up of fantastic films but to narrow it down here are the top 10 movies getting the most buzz so far:
10. Bob’s Burgers Movie (27 May, 2022)
Based on the beloved tv series this movie is sure to delight. This animated comedy musical begins with a disastrous rupture in a water main which causes a sinkhole to form at the entrance to Bob’s Burgers. The family must work together to find a solution to the massive hole in their summer plans.
9. Morbius ( 1 April, 2022)
Jared Leto stars as Dr. Michael Morbius a biochemist with a rare blood disease who, in an attempt to cure himself and others suffering likewise, instead botches the experiment and finds himself infected with something else entirely.
8. Top Gun: Maverick (27 May, 2022)
Originally to be released this past November Top Gun: Maverick, starring Tom Cruise, was postponed due to a surge in COVID-19 cases. But with the new release date of 27 May there isn’t much longer to wait for this action-packed aviation adventure to hit the big screen.
7. Thor: Love and Thunder (8 July, 2022)
Following the events of Thor Ragnarok this next instalment in the Marvel franchise promises to be an unforgettable experience. Chris Hemsworth reprises his famous role alongside a star-studded cast including Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson and Christian Bale.
6. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (22 April, 2022)
Enter the weird and whacky world of Nicholas Cage in this off the wall movie directed by Tom Gormican and starring Nicholas Cage as himself. The movie follows Cage who is struggling to find roles and facing hard times financially. Accepting a $1 million offer to make an appearance at a fan’s birthday party, Cage finds himself channeling his iconic characters when things take a wild turn.
5. Lightyear (17 June, 2022)
From Walt Disney Studios, this movie explores the origins of Buzz Lightyear, the inspiration for Toy Story’s enthusiastic spaceman. This movie is sure to warm hearts and become a movie night staple for both young and old.
4. Jurassic World Dominion (10 June, 2022)
Looking to be the most intense movie in the rebooted franchise, Jurassic World Dominion takes place in a world where dinosaurs and humans struggle to coexist after the destruction of Isla Nublar, the island that housed Jurassic World.
3. Nope (22 July, 2022)
The newest horror/thriller from Jordan Peele comes to the big screen this July. Starring Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer the story takes place on a horse ranch in a remote town where strange and frightening events begin to take place.
2. Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (6 May, 2022)
The sequel to Doctor Strange takes place after the events of the first season of Loki and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Dr. Stephen Strange travels to the multiverse after casting a forbidden spell which opens up a door to it. There he must battle the forces which threaten humanity with the help of Wong and Wanda Maximoff.
1. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (11 November, 2022)
Although we’ll have to wait until November for the release of the sequel to the first Black Panther movie this film is easily the most anticipated of 2022. After the incredible success of the amazing first installment of this series fans have been counting down the days until the next movie. Although not much is known about the story yet Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is sure to be a fantastic experience.
