Samsung produces some of the most powerful smartphones available on the market, with many hidden features and technologies available. Following the recent launch of the Samsung Galaxy S22, experts at mobile phone retailer Fonehouse have shared seven tips and tricks that you might not know your Samsung smartphone is capable of.

Share Your Wi-Fi Password with a QR Code

To allow other android devices to easily connect to your Wi-Fi, you can share the password with a QR code, making it easier to connect without the need to type a password manually.

To share a QR code > Launch Settings app > Tap Connections > Select Wi-Fi > Tap on the Settings icon next to your connected Wi-Fi network > Tap QR code on the bottom left-hand side > A QR Code will be generated for other mobiles to scan.

Note: Your device must be running Android 10 or later.

Split Screen

Multi-Window mode allows you to use Split Screen to complete multiple tasks on one screen, which means you can take notes while watching a video or browse the web and check your emails simultaneously, ideal for remote working.

To use split-screen > Select Menu button > Select the desired app icon > Select open in split-screen view > Navigate to and select the second app > Open the app.

To change the size of the windows: Tap and hold the line between the windows > Drag the line in either direction > Release the line where you want the split to be.

Live Caption

This feature allows you to get live captions for various media files including podcasts, videos and audio messages by automatically detecting speech in them. The sound doesn’t need to be on for live captions to work.

To turn on live captions > Launch settings > Accessibility > Select Hearing enhancements > Select Live Caption > Toggle it on to enable it.

Note: Your device must be running Android 11 or later.

Object Eraser

To easily remove objects from your photos, simply enable Object Eraser in your Gallery app to edit your photos, a feature that’s helpful for editing photos to post on Instagram.

To enable Object Eraser > Launch Gallery app > Select the image you would like to edit > Tap on the pencil icon > Tap the three-dot icon > Select Labs > Enable the Object eraser.

To use the Object Eraser > Open the image you want to edit > Tap on Pencil icon > Tap the Object Eraser icon > Highlight an area you want to remove > Tap erase > Once finished, tap the tick icon.

The Good Lock app allows you to completely customise your Samsung phone, containing a series of modules designed to change aspects of the user interface to make it more personalised. Some options include:

QuickStar lets you customise the appearance of your taskbar, which includes options such as hiding certain icons at the top of your screen or changing the position of your clock.

Home Up lets you change the appearance of your home screen, allowing you to change settings such as the number of apps that are visible or the animation effects that happen when you tap a folder.

LockStar allows you to tweak the appearance of your lock screen, with options such as moving the position of each widget or changing the wallpaper.

Clockface gives you lots of options to change the appearance of the clock on your lock screen or always-on display, which even goes so far as to let you change the colour of each clock hand.

NavStar lets you change the icons for the “Recent,” Home” and “Back” keys any icon you want.

Live Wallpapers

To have your lock screen as something unique, you can set your own videos as live wallpaper that are up to 15 seconds long.

To set your own video > Open the gallery app > Open the video you want to set as a wallpaper > Tap on the three-dot menu button in the bottom right corner > Select ‘Set as wallpaper’ > Tap on ‘Lock screen’.

Snooze Notifications
At times, when you’re busy and can’t open a notification, you may want to be reminded of it at a later time when is more suitable, which you can do through the snooze notification feature.

To snooze a notification > Open the notification panel > Slightly swipe right or left on a notification > Tap the notification snooze icon > Choose the time you want the notification to reappear.
