The Greenhouses in Marylebone will play host to a new series of ticketed afternoon tea experiences this summer, curating creative workshops with one of London’s most coveted floral venues. Launching this July, Afternoons in Bloom combines hands-on experiences with an elegant afternoon tea inside the venue’s beautifully styled greenhouses at One Marylebone, surrounded by fresh florals in the very heart of the capital.
The Greenhouses’ afternoon tea will put a fresh, Middle-Eastern spin on the British tradition, treating guests to unlimited tea along with a menu of finger sandwiches filled with roast marinated beets, labneh, truffle honey, and dukkah brittle, alongside pomegranate-cured salmon with fennel and rose harissa crème fraiche.
Onwards, savoury bites of harissa chicken with sweetcorn, spiced lamb Scotch egg, and wild mushroom sausage rolls will be served, before moving onto fresh fruit scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream. To finish, the afternoon is rounded off with glazed lemon meringue pie, spiced carrot cake with candied walnut, and glazed chocolate and pistachio éclairs.
Guests can choose between two carefully curated activities:
- Guided Wine Tasting Afternoon Tea with Graft (Saturday 25th July) – Hosted in partnership with independent South London wine importer Graft, this narrative-led tasting explores the stories behind each wine while guiding guests through carefully selected pairings across the afternoon tea menu. The experience includes unlimited tea alongside four tasting-sized wines, with each course designed to complement the flavours in the glass.
- Fragrance Blending Afternoon Tea with Ribbon & Bow (Sunday 2nd August) – Created alongside fragrance studio Ribbon & Bow, this hands-on workshop introduces guests to the art of perfume creation through an exploration of top, heart, and base notes before guiding them in blending their own bespoke 10ml fragrance. Alongside afternoon tea and unlimited tea, the experience also includes a glass of bubbles on arrival, and the finished fragrance to take home.
Opened in 2023, The Greenhouses has established itself as one of the most distinctive private dining spaces in the capital, serving modern, plentiful Middle Eastern-inspired menus in an intimate setting. Tucked within the historic grounds of One Marylebone, each individually designed greenhouse offers a secluded dining space surrounded by greenery, flowers, and softly lit interiors, creating a calming atmosphere despite sitting moments from some of London’s busiest streets.
Usually reserved for private celebrations and exclusive hire, these ticketed experiences offer a rare opportunity to step inside one of London’s most distinctive dining spaces, and are set to be popular with afternoon tea enthusiasts and those seeking unique (and Instagrammable) experiences around the capital.
