Subway is kicking off 2026 with a fresh shake-up of its UK menu, introducing a brand-new Breaded Chicken Sub alongside a limited trial of a Smashed Falafel Sub, giving both meat lovers and plant-based fans something new to get excited about.
Launching nationwide from 7 January 2026, the new Breaded Chicken Sub puts a lighter spin on a classic comfort favourite, while Subway continues to expand its range of customisable, better-for-you options.
A lighter take on a classic chicken sandwich
The new Breaded Chicken Sub features a filleted chicken breast that’s baked, not fried, and quadruple coated before being baked to golden perfection. The result is a crispy, satisfying chicken sandwich that doesn’t rely on deep frying to deliver flavour.
Built on Subway’s freshly baked bread, the new sub is fully customisable – allowing customers to load up on fresh vegetables, choose their favourite cheese and sauces, or keep things light depending on their taste.
For those after maximum indulgence, Subway recommends pairing the Breaded Chicken with crispy maple streaky bacon, melted cheese and sweet chilli sauce, finished with a generous helping of fresh salad and veggies.
Vegan-friendly Smashed Falafel Sub hits selected stores
Alongside the chicken launch, Subway is also trialling a new Smashed Falafel Sub in 300 UK stores from 7 January until 24 March, or while stocks last.
Suitable for vegans, the vibrant new sub features falafel made from green chickpeas, blended with fresh herbs and spices. Packed with flavour and “green goodness”, it’s served in freshly baked bread with crisp veggies and finished with any sauce of choice – offering a filling and nutritious option for those seeking bold plant-based flavours.
The falafel range will also include a six-piece side of Falafel Bites, giving customers even more flexibility when building their meal.
Available your way – and in multiple formats
Both the Breaded Chicken Sub and Smashed Falafel Sub are available as a Footlong or 6-inch Sub, as well as a Wrap, Salad or Spud, reinforcing Subway’s long-standing “make it how you like it” ethos.
To finish things on a sweet note, Subway has also confirmed the return of its fan-favourite Oat & Raisin Cookie, now made with a new fibre-rich recipe and packed with even more raisins.
