AMAZON PRIME VIDEO’S TOMB RAIDER SERIES REVEALS STAR-STUDDED CAST INCLUDING SIGOURNEY WEAVER AND JASON ISAACS

Amazon MGM Studios has officially unveiled the full cast for its highly anticipated Tomb Raider television series, heading to Prime Video, and the lineup is packed with acclaimed talent. Joining previously announced lead Sophie Turner as iconic adventurer Lara Croft are Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie, Bill Paterson, and more.

Based on the legendary Tomb Raider video game franchise, the series reimagines the globe-trotting adventures of Lara Croft, the fearless archaeologist whose legacy has spanned games, films, and pop culture for nearly three decades.

Sophie Turner on Playing Lara Croft

Turner, best known for Game of Thrones and Dark Phoenix, spoke about the cultural impact of Lara Croft and why the role resonates with her.

“I’ve been a long-time fan of Tomb Raider and the character of Lara. She has always felt, for me, very emboldened in a male-dominated world. She’s a fierce female role model.”

The casting marks a new chapter for Lara Croft following earlier big-screen portrayals by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander. Read more about women leading major franchises in our Film Features archive.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge Leads the Creative Vision

The series is spearheaded by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), who serves as creator, writer, executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Chad Hodge (Snowpiercer). Waller-Bridge teased the depth of the ensemble cast:

“Tomb Raider boasts a plethora of iconic characters. I am thrilled to have been able to bring some personal and fan favourites to the screen while also introducing a few new rascals of our own to the mix. This cast is beyond my wildest dreams!”

Direction duties fall to Jonathan Van Tulleken (Shōgun), who also executive produces.

The project is executive produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Crystal Dynamics (developers of the Tomb Raider games), Legendary Television, and Story Kitchen, alongside Wells Street Films.
