With Stranger Things back on screens, fans can enjoy a playful reinvention of the ultimate winter favourite, the Snowball. This Stranger Things-inspired version turns the classic serve on its head, with a cherry garnish at the bottom and a bold layer of cherry brandy sinking through the drink – blending festive cheer with a nod to the retro supernatural world of the Upside Down.
Created in collaboration with recipe developer Jane Coupland, the drink mixes Warninks Advocaat and De Kuyper Cherry Brandy to produce a rebellious version of the nostalgic winter serve. The cherry brandy, poured carefully down the side of the glass, creates a layered effect to reflect the portals in Stranger Things, while a rim of red sprinkles can make the glass pop for festive gatherings or for watching parties of the latest season of the series.
Here’s what you need to make the most festive of all holiday beverages:
Ingredients (Serves 1)
- 50ml Warninks Advocaat
- Juice of ¼ lime (approx. 7.5ml)
- 100ml lemonade
- 5ml De Kuyper Cherry Brandy
- 1 Maraschino cherry
- Red sprinkles (optional)
- Martini-style cocktail glass
Method
- Optional: Dip the glass rim into a little Advocaat, then red sprinkles.
- Add ice to a jug, pour in Advocaat and lime juice, and stir briskly for 30 seconds.
- Remove ice, add lemonade, and stir gently.
- Place the maraschino cherry at the bottom of the prepared glass.
- Pour the Snowball mixture over the cherry.
- Slowly pour the cherry brandy down the side to create the Upside Down effect.
- Serve immediately.
