To toast National Tequila Day on 24th July 2023, El Rayo Tequila – the modern tequila crafted with 100% slow-grown blue agave – has teamed up with Mirror Margarita, to create 500 limited edition 500ml bottles of the award-winning crystal-clear cocktail.
The new cocktail has the same clean, crisp and delicate balance as the original (which was previously named London’s best cocktail by Time Out), but this time is enhanced with Blood Orange, Lemon and Lime for a rounded and bright citrus flavour profile.
The exclusive El Rayo x Mirror Margarita, made with El Rayo Plata, looks like a glass of water when served, but in fact it is a stunning Margarita with the perfect balance of sweet and sour notes. This modern hybrid cocktail has been created by spirits expert Deano Moncrieffe the Co-Founder of award winning tequila bar Hacha. The cocktail has the taste of a straight-up classic but it’s served on the rocks in the style of a Tommy’s Margarita. At its heart is the blue agave flavours of El Rayo and a recipe that champions the natural taste rather than masking it with lime and salt.

The bottle is designed by local Mexican artist Mario Ballesteros, the founder of Toro Pinto design studio who created El Rayo’s award winning iconic labels. For this limited edition El Rayo x Mirror Margarita label, Mario has taken inspiration from both brand’s stand out designs to create a bespoke label that brings to life the delicious cocktail.
El Rayo Plata, the star of the limited-edition Mirror Margarita, captures the vibrant flavours of Mexico’s majestic blue agave plant. Herbal aromas give way to bright citrus notes warmed by a hint of peppery spice.
El Rayo x Mirror Margarita (15% ABV; RRP £36/500ml) will be available from 17th July 2023 via the El Rayo and Hacha bottle shop. It can also be enjoyed as a cocktail at Hacha Dalston and Brixton for £10 from 24 July.
