Snickers has officially been crowned Manchester’s favourite Celebrations chocolate this Christmas, according to new research that reveals nearly a third of Mancunians (31%) consider it their top pick. But, as anyone from Manchester knows, chocolate preferences can spark a festive debate almost as heated as the rivalry between the city’s two local clubs.
To mark the announcement, Celebrations has unveiled a limited-edition half-and-half red and blue football shirt, featuring the Snickers logo as a playful homage to Manchester’s famous football rivalry. The shirts will be handed out to fans today inviting them to share their festive shirts with pride and join in the sweet debate. Will Snickers unite the city, or will this victory add fuel to the festive chocolate rivalry?
Christmas debates in Manchester:
The new research highlights just how passionate Mancunians are about chocolate during the festive season:
- Two-thirds (60%) of Mancunians consider Celebrations the must-have Christmas treat, topping Cookies and Mince Pies
- A fifth (20%) admit to arguing over what Celebrations is the best in the tub
- 22% say Christmas isn’t Christmas until you open the first tub of chocolates but one in 10 (10%) have heated discussions over when to open the Celebrations tub – is it Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
- 20% of locals reveal their family gatekeeps their favourite chocolate in fear of it going first
“If there’s one thing Mancunians love as much as football, it’s a good debate – and nothing fuels festive arguments like chocolate! Snickers has been crowned the city’s favourite, but we know this won’t end the debate. Our half-and-half shirts are a fun way to bring fans together this Christmas, whether they’re Team Snickers or not.”
Laura O’Neill, Head of Christmas at Celebrations
Whether you’re Team Snickers, Team Maltesers, or even Team Bounty, Celebrations is inviting all chocolate lovers to join the debate this Christmas using the hashtag #MyFavourite. And don’t forget to stock up on Celebrations tubs in time for Christmas. This year shoppers also have the chance to win 1 of 500,000 winning tickets inside Celebrations Tubs in Tesco stores.
