The pub garden just got an upgrade this August Bank Holiday. For one day only, Beavertown Brewery’s Skulloon Tavern will drift 2,000 feet above the countryside, serving Neck Oil and panoramic views to one lucky winner and their guest – a true once-in-a-lifetime pour from Britain’s first hot air balloon pub.
The Skulloon Tavern, taking its look from the illustrated skull hot air balloon that appears on Beavertown’s Neck Oil cans, will launches on Saturday 23rd August as part of the brewery’s Stick Your Neck Out campaign, which encourages people to break out of their routines. The winners will be the Skulloon Tavern’s first and only customers, with the pub fully kitted out with chilled beers, snacks, a bespoke sign and even its own pub carpet. Transport, accommodation and a private pilot are all part of the prize.
This VIP experience comes at a time when Brits are looking to bring on something different. Beavertown’s research shows that 67% of the UK spend every Bank Holiday doing the same thing, with family barbecues (56%), hedge trimming (38%) and gym sessions (32%) topping the list. Almost half (46%) wish they were more spontaneous, and over half (56%) describe themselves as cautious despite wanting change. The Skulloon Tavern will be changing that for one pair of winners, swapping out their routine for a once-in-a-lifetime weekend.
Winners will travel to Bath with all expenses covered, including paid-for accommodation. On the day of the flight, they’ll be transported to the launch site and welcomed by the Beavertown team and expert balloon staff. Before take-off, there will be time for photos with the Skulloon Tavern, before the private flight that will last up to two hours depending on the weather. Drinks will be served in pint glasses, with pub snacks on hand to complete the airborne taproom experience.
Founded in 2012 in a small BBQ joint in Haggerston, Beavertown has grown into one of the UK’s most recognisable craft breweries. Known for its inventive beers like Neck Oil IPA, Gamma Ray APA and Lazer Crush Alcohol-Free IPA, the brand produces millions of pints a year from its Tottenham Hale and Enfield sites. It also operates the first taproom and microbrewery inside a Premier League stadium at Tottenham Hotspur, and has won multiple gold medals at the International Beer Challenge.
The exclusive competition is open to UK residents aged 18 and over, with one winner chosen to fly on 23rd August. To be in with a chance of swapping the beer garden for the clouds, you can enter the competition and read the full terms and conditions via Beavertown’s website right here.
