RUSSELL CROWE RETURNS TO THE RING IN NEW MMA DRAMA BEAST

Action fans are gearing up for a brutal, high-stakes comeback story as Beast prepares for its digital release this summer. Distributed by Vertigo Releasing, the upcoming MMA thriller will be available across major digital platforms from 1st June, bringing a mix of adrenaline, emotion, and redemption straight to home screens.

Directed by Tyler Atkins—known for work on Bosch and RockitBeast boasts a heavyweight cast led by Academy Award winner Russell Crowe, alongside Daniel MacPherson and Luke Hemsworth.

Plot: A Fighter’s Redemption Story

At its core, Beast is a gripping tale of sacrifice, family, and unfinished dreams. The story follows Patton James (MacPherson), a former MMA fighter who gave up his career to support his wife and daughter.

When his brother Malon suffers a devastating injury in a fight tied to dangerous debts, Patton is forced back into the cage. What follows is a tense journey as he attempts to reclaim his former glory while competing in ONE Championship.

To stand any chance, Patton must rebuild his relationship with his former trainer—played by Crowe—and hold his family together under mounting pressure. The film builds toward a final, brutal showdown against reigning champion Xavier Grau.

Star-Studded Cast Brings the Heat

Alongside its leading trio, Beast features a diverse and dynamic supporting cast, including:

  • Bren Foster
  • George Burgess
  • Mojean Aria
  • Kelly Gale
  • Amy Shark
  • Saphira Moran

This ensemble adds depth to the film’s emotional stakes while delivering on the physical intensity expected from an MMA-focused narrative.

Russell Crowe Steps Behind the Pen Again

In addition to starring, Crowe also co-wrote the screenplay alongside David Frigerio. This marks his second writing credit following his work on Poker Face (2022), signalling a continued creative evolution for the veteran actor.

The film is produced by John Schwarz, David Frigerio, Michael Schwarz, and Tim O’Hair, further strengthening its industry pedigree.
