ROBIN HOOD RENEWED FOR SEASON 2 AS MGM+ EXPANDS ITS EPIC ROMANTIC ADVENTURE

MGM+ has officially renewed its breakout romantic adventure drama Robin Hood for a second season, following what the network describes as one of its strongest-ever debut performances.

The 10-episode second season will begin production this summer at PFI Studios in Serbia, continuing the sweeping reimagining of the legendary outlaw who stole from the rich and gave to the poor — and the epic love story at the heart of his rebellion.

Produced by Lionsgate Television, the series is led by showrunner John Glenn, producer-director Jonathan English, and executive producer Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures. Together, the creative team has reshaped the centuries-old tale into a prestige drama with historical authenticity, psychological depth, and a heightened focus on the relationship between Rob and Marian.

A Modern Reimagining of a Legendary Hero

Season one introduced audiences to Jack Patten as Rob and Lauren McQueen as Marian, alongside a powerhouse supporting cast including Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham and Connie Nielsen as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine.

Rather than simply retelling the folklore, the MGM+ adaptation leaned into emotional complexity and political intrigue, delivering a sweeping yet intimate portrait of rebellion, romance and power.

Season 2: Beyond Sherwood and Nottingham

While the first season grounded itself in Sherwood Forest and Nottingham, season two expands the narrative far beyond England’s borders.

The new chapter will take viewers into the treacherous royal courts of England, France and Rome. As the Angevin empire threatens to fracture, Rob and Marian find themselves navigating the corridors of Norman power — where politics, gold and betrayal prove as dangerous as any battlefield.

What begins as a fight for survival evolves into a high-stakes struggle for the soul of a kingdom. According to MGM+, the second season will deepen the romance, intensify rivalries and transform the outlaw rebellion into a sweeping battle for legacy and history itself.

MGM+ Calls Robin Hood a Breakout Success

Michael Wright, Global Head of MGM+, described Robin Hood as one of the platform’s top-performing original series of all time, citing strong audience engagement both in the United States and internationally.

The series premieres on MGM+ in the U.S. and is also available to subscribers in the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Belgium and the Netherlands — underscoring its global appeal.

Jocelyn Sabo, Executive Vice President of Scripted Television Development at Lionsgate, highlighted the “passionate response” from viewers worldwide and promised that season two will raise the stakes even further.

Meanwhile, Glenn and English praised MGM+ and Lionsgate for backing their ambitious creative vision, promising a season that feels “both epic and intimate.”

Expanding the Robin Hood Legacy

With season two casting set to be announced soon, anticipation is already building around how the series will further reinterpret the iconic legend.

At a time when prestige historical dramas continue to dominate streaming platforms, Robin Hood positions itself as a bold, romantic and politically charged reimagining of one of Britain’s most enduring myths.
