British racing driver Ella Lloyd is set to return behind the wheel for Envision Racing at the upcoming Formula E Rookie Test in Madrid on 22 March, marking her second outing in the team’s cutting-edge GEN3 Evo car.
The 20-year-old rising talent, who is part of the McLaren Driver Development Programme, previously impressed during her debut test with Envision Racing at the all-women’s session in Valencia in October 2025, where she finished fifth overall. Now, Lloyd will reunite with the team for the official rookie test during Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Building Momentum After F1 Academy Success
Lloyd’s return to the electric racing series comes after a strong season in F1 Academy. The Welsh driver finished fourth in the 2025 championship standings, securing five podium finishes during her debut campaign.
She is set to continue competing in the all-female racing series again in 2026 as she progresses through the junior single-seater ranks and builds experience in top-level electric motorsport.
Formula E Heads to Historic Madrid Circuit
The rookie test will take place following Round 6 of the championship at the legendary Circuito del Jarama, which will host its first-ever Formula E race weekend. The historic Spanish circuit previously served as a pre-season testing venue during Season 11 after severe flooding forced changes to the schedule in Valencia.
For Lloyd, the test represents another valuable opportunity to gain experience in Formula E’s next-generation GEN3 Evo car and further strengthen her relationship with Envision Racing.
“I’m really looking forward to driving the Formula E car again with Envision Racing,” Lloyd said. “The test last year in Valencia was a fantastic experience and I learnt a great deal from the team. I’m excited to build on that progress and continue developing in Madrid.”
Envision Racing Eyes Strong Championship Push
According to Envision Racing Managing Director and CTO Sylvain Filippi, the team is eager to see Lloyd back in action.
“We are delighted to welcome Ella back to the team for the Madrid rookie test,” Filippi said. “She demonstrated impressive pace during her first outing in Valencia. This test will be a great opportunity for her to continue that progress and further integrate with the team.”
Envision Racing currently sits fifth in the teams’ standings after a strong showing in Jeddah, where driver Sébastien Buemi secured a second-place podium finish.
Round 6 of the championship will take place on 21 March at Jarama, with the official rookie test following on 22 March — giving emerging talents like Lloyd a chance to showcase their potential in one of motorsport’s fastest-growing series.
