PRAGMATA: CAPCOM’S SCI-FI ACTION ADVENTURE COMBINES HACKING, COMBAT AND A MYSTERIOUS LUNAR STORY

Gaming giant Capcom is preparing to launch a bold new science-fiction IP with Pragmata, an action-adventure title that blends tactical hacking, fast-paced combat and a cinematic story set on the Moon.

Set in the near future, the single-player experience introduces players to an unlikely duo — security specialist Hugh Williams and a mysterious android named Diana — who must work together to survive the dangers of a deserted lunar research station and find a way back to Earth.

The title marks a new direction for Capcom, the studio behind legendary franchises such as Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter and Mega Man.

A Near-Future Sci-Fi Mystery on the Moon

The story of Pragmata unfolds in a world transformed by the discovery of Lunafilament, an advanced material capable of creating almost anything — provided the correct data is available.

To study and develop this revolutionary technology, scientists established a lunar research station. However, when communication with the facility suddenly stops, a response team is sent to investigate.

Shortly after their arrival, disaster strikes.

A massive lunar quake devastates the station, leaving team member Hugh Williams separated from his colleagues, unconscious and seriously injured. When he awakens, he finds himself rescued by a mysterious android in the form of a young girl.

Her name is Diana.

Meet Diana: A Curious Android with Powerful Abilities

Known technically as D-I-0336-7, Diana is a Pragmata — a unique android created using Lunafilament technology.

Despite her advanced capabilities, Diana’s data experience is limited, making her endlessly curious about the world around her. Players will see this curiosity reflected in her reactions to the environment and interactions with Hugh.

Her most powerful skill lies in her hacking abilities.

Diana can infiltrate enemy systems, break through security protocols and even manipulate parts of the lunar station itself, unlocking pathways and revealing hidden routes needed to progress.

Hugh gives her the name “Diana”, a gesture that quickly becomes meaningful to the android as their partnership develops.

Hugh Williams: The Human Half of the Team

Hugh Williams brings the combat expertise to the duo.

With a background in security operations, he is highly skilled with firearms and capable of handling a wide range of weapons. His experience becomes essential as hostile machines begin to emerge from the shadows of the abandoned station.

While Hugh’s personality can be blunt and sarcastic, his actions reveal a compassionate side — especially when it comes to protecting Diana.

Together, the two form an unlikely partnership that drives the narrative of Pragmata.

A Unique Combat System That Blends Hacking and Shooting

One of Pragmata’s standout features is its dual-character combat system. Rather than controlling a single protagonist, players must coordinate both Hugh and Diana simultaneously.

During combat encounters:

  • Diana hacks enemy bots, exposing vulnerabilities in their systems

  • Hugh targets those weaknesses using a diverse arsenal of weapons

This combination of strategy and action creates a layered combat experience where timing, positioning and coordination play crucial roles.

Every battle becomes a tactical challenge rather than simple run-and-gun gameplay.

Exploring the Lunar Research Facility

The lunar station itself acts as both setting and puzzle. Navigation relies heavily on teamwork between the two characters. Hugh’s powered suit allows him to boost and glide using thrusters, helping players traverse large areas quickly.

Meanwhile, Diana can hack security systems, unlock sealed doors and manipulate station infrastructure, opening routes that would otherwise remain inaccessible.

But while parts of the facility appear eerily silent and abandoned, players must stay vigilant — enemy bots lurk in the shadows, waiting to strike.

A New Sci-Fi Universe from Capcom

With its futuristic setting, character-driven narrative and innovative combat mechanics, Pragmata represents an ambitious new chapter for Capcom. The game blends cinematic storytelling with gameplay that encourages players to think strategically, combining hacking and firepower to overcome threats on the Moon.

As anticipation builds, Pragmata is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing new sci-fi adventures in modern gaming.
