With high-pressure matches set to dominate screens nationwide, nearly a third of Brits (31%) admit they’ve actively avoided watching key sporting moments live because the stress felt too overwhelming.

- Penalty shootouts are the most stressful sporting moments for 54% of fans
- 93% say watching their team is more stressful than planning a wedding
- 46% shout at the TV during tense moments
- 50% follow superstitions such as lucky shirts or fixed seating spots

Football, in particular, continues to push fans to the edge—especially during penalty shootouts that still haunt national memories.
