PIANO PEOPLE IN THE PARK SET TO ELECTRIFY LONDON THIS WEEKEND WITH A STAR-STUDDED AMAPIANO LINEUP!

This Friday, August 23rd, 2024, Southwark Park will come alive with the vibrant sounds of Amapiano and African electronic dance music as Piano People in the Park makes its London debut.

Perfectly timed for the long bank holiday weekend, this highly anticipated one-day festival follows the success of their groundbreaking New York show in Central Park—the highest-selling Amapiano show in America— and the Scorpion Kings‘ legendary 3-hour closing set at Afro Nation Detroit. London is about to become the ultimate destination for Amapiano lovers outside of South Africa.

Piano People have once again outdone themselves, bringing together over 15 of the hottest names in the Amapiano scene for what promises to be a truly unmissable event. The festival will be headlined by the iconic Scorpion Kings (DJ Maphorisa & Kabza De Small), who have been captivating audiences around the globe with their electrifying performances. Joining them will be South African dance music legend Oskido, the soulful voice of Young Stunna, the dynamic sounds of Vigro Deep, the soulful Queen MaWhoo, London’s very own Via Seri, and the ever-energetic Uncool MC. To add an exciting twist, Afro Tech and Afro House powerhouses like 3-Step King ThakzinZakes Bantwini, and Atmos Blaq will also grace the stage, celebrating the diverse and rich heritage of South African electronic music.

True to their innovative spirit, Piano People are also re-introducing the European Groove stage, showcasing the next wave of talent emerging from Europe. This stage will feature performances by London’s DJ Kwamzy and Shannen SP, UK Latin DJ Sofi Mlow, Amsterdam’s Unruly Phoenix, Manchester’s Joe Shamzz, and many more, making it a must-see for fans of cutting-edge dance music.

Reflecting on the event, Piano People organisers shared their enthusiasm: “We are beyond excited to launch our first outdoor festival in London this summer, especially after the incredible success of the Piano People stage at Afro Nation Portugal and the monumental New York show. This event is more than just a celebration of Amapiano—it’s an embrace of the full spectrum of Southern African dance music, from 3-step Gqom to Afro Tech and Afro House. This festival is a testament to the depth and versatility of Southern African music, and we can’t wait to bring this vibrant culture to London.”

Following the massive success of the 2024 Afro Nation Portugal festival, which saw huge crowds and unforgettable performances on the beach, Piano People continue to lead the way in promoting African electronic music on the global stage. Their historic one-day festival at Drumsheds last year set a new standard for London’s dance music scene, and now, Piano People in the Park is set to be the perfect way to kick off your August Bank Holiday weekend. Kicking off at 2pm in Southwark Park this Friday, London is in for an extraordinary celebration—don’t miss out!
