MCM Birmingham Comic Con 2026 has wrapped up after three packed days at the NEC, bringing together stars from Daredevil, Final Fantasy VII, Genshin Impact, 007 First Light and some of gaming and pop culture’s biggest franchises.
From celebrity panels and video game voice-acting sessions to sustainable cosplay, indie game development and family-friendly entertainment, MCM Birmingham Comic Con 2026 gave fans plenty to see across the weekend.
Held at the NEC Birmingham from 7–9 August 2026, the convention welcomed fans for a celebration of film, television, gaming, comics, cosplay and wider pop culture.
Charlie Cox And Deborah Ann Woll Discuss Daredevil
One of the biggest highlights of the weekend came from Daredevil stars Charlie Cox and Deborah Ann Woll, who took part in a special spotlight session exploring their experiences working on the hugely popular Marvel series.
The pair discussed behind-the-scenes moments, memorable bloopers and the impact of meeting fans at conventions.
Cox also reflected on a particularly emotional interaction with a young blind fan who attended a convention dressed as Daredevil. The fan’s parents explained how strongly he had connected with the character.
Reflecting on the experience, Cox described it as a moment that “crushes the breath out of your chest”, highlighting the profound impact that characters can have on audiences.
Voice Actors Take Centre Stage!
Gaming was another major part of MCM Birmingham 2026, with voice actors and creative teams from some of the industry’s biggest titles offering fans an insight into what happens behind the microphone.
At Behind The Voice with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, cast and production talent explored the relationship between performance, storytelling and game development.
Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, Lead Writer and Voice and Localisation Producer on the game, described voice acting as a key part of bringing characters to life, with performers putting a piece of themselves into their roles.
Meanwhile, fans of 007 First Light were given an early look into the world of the upcoming James Bond game through a session with Patrick Gibson.
The actor discussed the challenge of taking on one of popular culture’s most recognisable characters and explained how different portrayals of Bond can still retain the character’s defining qualities.
Genshin Impact Stars Meet Fans!
The Genshin Impact universe was also represented at the convention, with Alexandra Guelff, Ashleigh Haddad and surprise guest Chris Tergliafera appearing for a behind-the-voice session.
The actors discussed how performers adapt their techniques when recording inside a voice booth, as well as how visuals can help shape a character’s performance.
They also spoke about the unique experience of meeting fans face-to-face at conventions, with Tergliafera describing the opportunity as “a wonderful human experience”.
For fans interested in the craft itself, a separate Voice Actors in the Hot-Seat Q&A provided the opportunity to ask questions about working in the industry.
Sustainable Cosplay Takes The Spotlight
Cosplay was another key theme throughout MCM Birmingham, with the Cosplaying Sustainably session exploring how fans can reduce the environmental impact of their costumes without sacrificing creativity.
TheChloeCorner, Kerberos.cosplay and Newlandcosplay encouraged attendees to embrace a “slow cosplay” approach.
Among the suggestions were sourcing second-hand materials, repurposing old costumes, joining scrap stores, visiting charity craft shops and sharing materials and skills within the cosplay community.
The session also encouraged cosplayers to prioritise quality over quantity and get more use out of costumes they already own.
Final Fantasy VII Stars Reveal The Secrets Behind Voice Acting
The convention’s final day delivered another major gaming highlight with Behind the Voice with Final Fantasy VII.
Britt Baron, John Eric Bentley, Suzie Yeung, Dave B. Mitchell and Kirk Thornton took to the Side Quest Stage to discuss bringing the iconic characters of the Final Fantasy VII universe to life.
The conversation covered everything from voice direction to performance capture, while the cast reflected on the franchise’s ability to connect with multiple generations of players.
Bentley highlighted the experience of meeting families where older generations have introduced younger relatives to the game, while Baron described being part of the franchise as an honour because of its significance to fans.
MCM Birmingham Explores Indie Publishing And Game Development!
Beyond major entertainment franchises, MCM Birmingham also provided a platform for emerging creators.
The Self-Publishing: The Highs and the Lows panel gave aspiring authors an honest look at the realities of publishing independently.
Speakers discussed the creative freedom offered by self-publishing alongside the challenges involved, while emphasising that independent success can potentially open doors to traditional publishing.
L. L. MacRae summed up the importance of simply getting started, telling attendees: “you can always edit a bad book, but you can’t edit a blank page”.
The convention also explored the world of independent game development with So You Want to Make Games?, where developers discussed different routes into the industry.
From creative writing and filmmaking to more traditional development skills, the panel highlighted the diverse range of experiences that can contribute to creating a video game.
Cosplay And Family Entertainment Round Out The Weekend!
The MCM Cosplay Team also hosted All About Cosplay, offering advice for newcomers and experienced cosplayers covering costume creation, convention etiquette, photography and masquerades.
Younger fans got their own moment in the spotlight during the Kids Cosplay Showcase, with mini superheroes and other characters taking to The Treehouse stage to show off their costumes.
Meanwhile, UKPW Live Wrestling added another dose of family-friendly entertainment, with championship photo opportunities, larger-than-life characters and live wrestling action.
MCM Birmingham 2026 Comes To A Close As MCM Comic Con Heads To London In October!
Following three days of panels, celebrity appearances, gaming sessions, cosplay and entertainment, MCM Birmingham Comic Con has now officially wrapped up.
