Sky Arts’ acclaimed series Landscape Artist of the Year is back for its 11th series, landing on Sky Arts, Freeview, and NOW from 14 January. The award-winning competition — a favourite among art lovers and creatives across the UK and Ireland — once again invites a new wave of talented artists to capture some of the nation’s most extraordinary scenery.
Presented by actor and writer Stephen Mangan, the series continues to champion diverse artistic voices and celebrate the beauty of Britain’s landscapes.
A Fresh Face on the Judging Panel
This season introduces Eva Langret, Director of the world-renowned contemporary art fair Frieze London, as a new judge. Known for her expert eye and industry insight, Langret joins returning judges Tai Shan Schierenberg and Kathleen Soriano to evaluate the artists’ work.

Iconic UK Locations Take Centre Stage
Filmed across some of the UK’s most breathtaking and historically rich environments, this year’s contestants set up their easels at the following standout landmarks:
-
Dover Castle, Kent
-
The Lake District, Cumbria
-
The Thames from HMS Wellington, London
-
Dover Ferry Port, Kent
-
St James’s Park, London
-
The Ouse Valley Viaduct, West Sussex
-
The Falkirk Wheel, Scotland
Each location offers a unique challenge, giving artists only four hours to create a landscape masterpiece in their preferred medium. Alongside the selected contestants, up to 50 wildcard artists also paint on location — and history has shown that wildcard talent can surprise the judges in spectacular ways.
The Road to Becoming Landscape Artist of the Year 2026
Winners from each heat will advance to the semi-finals and the grand final — where one artist will be crowned Landscape Artist of the Year 2026. The champion will receive a £10,000 commission to paint Croagh Patrick, Ireland’s sacred mountain in County Mayo, for the National Gallery of Ireland.
