Awards Radar described the documentary as “a tasty look at a very inventive sushi chef,” while MovieWeb praised it as “a fascinating portrait” of the culinary icon and his global influence.
The documentary is directed by Matt Tyrnauer, known for his acclaimed documentary Valentino: The Last Emperor.
Nobuyuki Matsuhisa Calls the Film “Very Personal”
Speaking about the documentary, Matsuhisa shared how meaningful the project was to him.
“This film is very personal for me. Matt has done a great job of telling my story, not just of my journey as a chef but also as a person. Everything I have built has come from perseverance, passion, and the people who believed in me along the way.”
