Ahead of the NFL games in London, ex-Dallas Cowboys defensive end Jack Crawford and ex-Spurs player and now academy coach Jermain Defoe, met at the Spurs stadium to discuss the importance of anti-racism programmes and the steps being taken to create a more inclusive environment within their sports. As two of the biggest sporting leagues in the world, who have anti-discrimination at their heart, the NFL and PL used their shared time in the UK as a moment to highlight the important work being done by their anti-racism initiatives, Inspire Change and No Room For Racism.
Defoe and Crawford were carefully chosen due to the differing but expert perspectives they brought to the conversation. British born and recently retired NFL player Crawford was uniquely placed to provide context into both the UK and US landscape and Spurs icon and recently retired player, Defoe discussed the change in attitudes from his days as player to his new position as Spurs club ambassador and academy coach.
The content comes as the Premier League games from last weekend and this upcoming weekend are dedicated to No Room For Racism, which has seen and will see players taking the knee ahead of the 20 games during this period.
