IKEA PARTNERS WITH DATING APP, BREEZE, TO OFFER IN-STORE DATES BASED ON DATERS’ SLEEPING HABITS

Recognising the importance of sleep compatibility in relationships, IKEA and dating app, Breeze, have teamed up to offer those looking for love the chance to meet ‘the one’ over meatballs in bed at an IKEA store this Valentine’s Day.

Nine lucky couples in London, Manchester, and Edinburgh who are matched by Breeze’s dating experts from today until 10th February could end up having their first date at a local IKEA store.

Breeze’s expert matchmakers will personally select the nine couples based on their sleep compatibility, looking at individual preferences. inspired by IKEA’s Six Sleep Essentials, such as  mattress firmness, temperature, duvet thickness and more. The chosen couples will then enjoy a once in a lifetime date, where they’ll enjoy a romantic meatball dinner for two in bed, set up in an IKEA roomset, to discover if they’re compatible in the bedroom, and in life.

With 80 years of experience, IKEA’s experts have used science backed insights to come up with the ultimate formula for a good’s night sleep, which is underpinned by IKEA’s Six Sleep Essentials – temperature, comfort, light, sound, air quality and declutter. This framework creates a base for a good night’s sleep, meaning no matter your lifestyle, environment or partner, going to bed is something to look forward to.

The partnership comes following research showing the importance of sleep compatibility in relationships – with a whopping 8.4 millionpeople in the UK admitting to splitting with a partner because of unbearable bed etiquette, and Gen Z topping the list of those who are most likely to have split for this reason (25%). Despite this, over half (55%) of those in a relationship say they have different sleeping habits and preferences to their partner, with almost a third (29%) admitting they get a better night’s sleep when their partner isn’t in bed with them.

The research also shows that the humble duvet appears to be a key source of contention for couples, with 46% of couples sharing that their partner hogging the duvet is their biggest source of stress. Disturbed sleep (31%) and fidgeting (29%) were also identified as key culprits in the battle for a good night’s rest.

“At IKEA, we believe everyone deserves a good night’s sleep – so we’re excited to team up with Breeze to help those looking for love to find someone they can sleep soundly with. We’ve used our Six Sleep Essentials to help lucky singles find their sleep soulmate. Regardless though of your relationship status, we offer products and services to ensure everyone can rest easy in a world to designed to stop you from sleeping.
