British neighbourhood favourite Honest Burgers has taken the top spot at the prestigious National Burger Awards, winning on its very first entry into the competition.
The brand’s award-winning creation, The Honest, impressed judges during a live cook-off, earning it the coveted National Burger of the Year title.
What Is ‘The Honest’ Burger?
Created by co-founder Tom Barton, The Honest is a premium twist on the brand’s signature burger — a staple across its UK restaurants.
The burger features:
- Dry-aged British beef
- Thick-cut Wiltshire bacon
- Homemade beef and onion relish
- XL melted burger cheese
- Honest pickles
- Fresh white onion
Designed as an indulgent upgrade, the burger celebrates 15 years since Honest Burgers first launched in Brixton, marking a major milestone for the business.
Currently, The Honest is exclusively available at the Liverpool Street Smash + Grab location, but it’s set to roll out nationwide for a limited time — giving fans across the UK the chance to try the award-winner.
A Big Win for Honest Burgers
Speaking on the win, Tom Barton said the recognition means a great deal to the brand:
“We’ve never competed at the National Burger Awards before, so entering for the first time and taking the trophy means a lot to us.”
He also credited loyal customers who have supported the brand over the past 15 years, calling the special edition burger “for them.”
Expansion Across the UK Continues
The award comes at a time of rapid growth for Honest Burgers, which now operates 45+ restaurants nationwide.
Recent openings include:
- Bristol (Cabot Circus and Cribbs Causeway)
- London locations in East Dulwich, Wimbledon, Kingston upon Thames and Old Brompton Road
A new restaurant at Westfield White City is also set to launch in April, signalling an exciting new chapter for the brand.
Smash + Grab and Loyal Fans
The brand’s innovative Smash + Grab concept — first introduced in Liverpool Street in late 2024 — has already proven a success, offering a faster, more casual way to enjoy Honest Burgers.
Meanwhile, its loyalty scheme, Honest Insiders, has attracted over 140,000 members since launching in June 2025, highlighting the strength of its growing community.

Honest Burgers has long championed quality and transparency. From making sauces and chips from scratch to sourcing high-quality British beef, the brand has built a reputation for doing things properly.
In 2017, it even opened its own butchery to maintain control over its supply chain — ensuring consistency across every burger served. Each meal also comes with its signature rosemary salted chips, made from fresh West Sussex potatoes and included in the price.
