Global electrification leader Hitachi Energy has signed a landmark five-year sponsorship agreement with FC Bayern Women, marking a major step forward for both sport and sustainable technology.
From the second half of the season, the Hitachi brand will appear on the sleeve of FC Bayern Women’s jerseys during the UEFA Women’s Champions League and the Women’s DFB Pokal, reinforcing the growing commercial momentum behind women’s football in Europe.
The long-term deal not only strengthens FC Bayern Women’s sponsorship portfolio but also highlights the increasing intersection between elite sport, innovation and social impact.
A Shared Vision: Shaping the Future
Both organisations emphasise shared values of performance, reliability and responsibility.
FC Bayern Women have become one of Europe’s most formidable sides, winning three German championships in the past four seasons and consistently competing in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Meanwhile, Hitachi Energy is a global technology leader in electrification, developing advanced power grid and transmission technologies that support secure, affordable and sustainable electricity worldwide. More than three billion people rely on its technologies daily.
Andreas Schierenbeck, CEO of Hitachi Energy, said:
“Progress is driven by teams that unite performance, discipline, and strong values — FC Bayern Women embody these principles. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to inspiring society, where both sport and electricity enhance quality of life for all. It also shines a light on the technologies that keep electricity secure and reliable, quietly powering progress every day and only truly noticed when the lights go out.”
Champions League Spotlight at Allianz Arena
The partnership’s first major sporting milestone arrives in early April, when FC Bayern Women play the second leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final at the Allianz Arena — their third appearance at the iconic Munich stadium this season.
The occasion offers global visibility for both the club and its new sponsor, underscoring the commercial growth and increasing broadcast appeal of women’s European football.
Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of FC Bayern, described the agreement as transformative:
“The collaboration with Hitachi Energy takes our women’s sponsorship to a new level. We are very happy to have gained this international technology leader as a partner. The long-term agreement is both an important milestone and recognition for our FC Bayern Women’s team. Like FC Bayern, Hitachi Energy stands for reliability, success and a commitment to social responsibility. Under the motto ‘shape the future’, we want to actively shape the future.”
Driving Development in Women’s Football
Bianca Rech, Director of Women’s Football at FC Bayern, highlighted the partnership’s broader impact:
“We are delighted about this new partnership with Hitachi Energy, which will help us drive forward our development in women’s soccer. A partnership like this generates energy — in the truest sense of the word. Our team brings power to the pitch, and together we will create powerful momentum — and the fact that this partnership also focuses on societal issues is further proof of its sustainable foundation.”
Beyond sleeve branding, the deal includes joint communications campaigns, storytelling initiatives and matchday activations, creating opportunities to connect fans with conversations around sustainability, innovation and equality in sport.
As women’s football continues to expand commercially and culturally, partnerships like this reflect a broader shift: global brands are increasingly investing in the women’s game as a platform for long-term impact and audience growth.
