Häagen-Dazs is proud to celebrate its iconic female founder, Rose Mattus and The Rose Project, with the launch of a limited edition run of Vanilla pints available to purchase from Sainsbury’s stores nationwide and online from late February to mid-March.
Following the launch of The Rose Project, Häagen-Dazs is continuing its commitment to empower women by donating 50p per limited edition pint created (40,000 pints will be available in total) to Change a Girl’s Life with The Prince’s Trust. The vital funds raised (a total of £20,000) aim to drive action and change the lives of young women who are struggling, going towards finance equipment, travel and courses to help set up work and lifelong careers for women across the UK.
The pints have been transformed to showcase a commemorative Rose Mattus design to celebrate her and the brand’s global commitment to support women at all levels. In recognition of Rose’s lifelong love for Häagen-Dazs Vanilla ice cream, the flavour has been coined as the ‘Founder’s Favourite’, marking how she shaped the brand and its #DontHoldBack ethos. Still the timeless classic flavour you know and love but with a limited edition new look. Häagen-Dazs Vanilla is made with real Bourbon vanilla extract for a rich taste which doesn’t require any artificial flavouring, resulting in elegant, velvety and luxurious ice cream.
The Rose Project was launched by Häagen-Dazs on International Women’s Day in 2023. The ongoing global initiative features a $100,000 USD bursary grant, awarded to five incredible women in honour of the brand’s trailblazing and inspirational female co-founder, shining a light on her unsung contribution to the brand we know and love today.
In 2023, over 2,500 applications were received for The Rose Project putting forward pioneering efforts and societal contributions made by women worldwide. From these, 50 talented and inspirational women have been shortlisted and put forward to win one of five monetary grants of $20,000 USD, and the winners will be selected by an all-female judging panel made up of inspirational figures from across the world, including Katie Piper OBE. The winners will be announced on International Women’s Day 2024. The top 50 shortlist includes women from 17 countries hailing from Europe, Asia, Africa & Middle East, Australia and the Americas.
