As England supporters gear up for one of the nation’s biggest football nights, Greggs has unveiled a unique tribute to hometown hero Harry Kane by temporarily renaming one of its London bakeries ‘KANES’.
The bakery chain has transformed its Blackhorse View shop in Walthamstow with a striking England-inspired makeover ahead of England’s crucial fixture against Norway, celebrating one of the country’s greatest-ever goalscorers in the area where his football journey began.
For one weekend only, the famous blue Greggs branding has been replaced with bold red-and-white colours, complete with a brand-new ‘KANES’ fascia, England flags and themed window displays.
A Homecoming Fit for England’s Captain
The transformation took place overnight after the bakery closed on Friday evening, reopening on Saturday morning as KANES.
The playful rebrand comes as England fans dream of another successful tournament run, with Greggs joining the nationwide excitement in support of Harry Kane and the Three Lions.
Whether supporters are discussing England’s formation or picking up a four-pack of the bakery’s iconic Sausage Rolls before kick-off, Greggs says there was “Nor Way” it could miss the opportunity to celebrate the occasion.
According to Greggs, the special branding is expected to remain in place throughout the weekend before the shop returns to its usual appearance, although the company has joked that extra time could be on the cards if Kane continues to fire England deeper into the tournament.
Walthamstow Celebrates One of Its Own
Located at Blackhorse View, Walthamstow, the bakery invited local residents and football fans to stop by throughout the day to take photographs and show their support for England’s captain. The store operates from 6:00am until 7:00pm, matching its standard Saturday opening hours.
Lynette Powell, Shift Manager at Greggs Blackhorse View, said:
“It’s fantastic to be able to celebrate a local lad who’s gone on to become one of the biggest names in football. Harry’s achievements have given local people plenty to be proud of over the years, and we’re delighted to be part of marking this special moment. We’re used to serving local favourites at Greggs, but this is definitely the first time we’ve had one named above the door!”
Greggs Joins England Fever
The temporary rebrand is the latest example of major UK brands embracing tournament fever with creative campaigns celebrating England’s national team.
While the famous Greggs logo may only be making way for KANES for a limited time, it gives football fans one more reason to visit Walthamstow before kick-off—and perhaps pick up a sausage roll while they’re there.
