GERD DROPS ETHEREAL INDIE-POP SINGLE ‘TRUTH TO BE TOLD’ AHEAD OF NEW ALBUM MORE WATER THAN ANYTHING

Swedish indie-pop riser GERD has returned with her captivating new single ‘Truth To Be Told’, out now on all major streaming platforms. Alongside the release, the EMI Sweden signee has confirmed her upcoming album More Water Than Anything, set to arrive this June.

Blending ethereal textures with emotionally charged lyricism, ‘Truth To Be Told’ showcases GERD’s ability to craft immersive soundscapes that resonate deeply. Fans of artists like Florence + The Machine and Låpsley will find themselves drawn to the track’s dreamy indie-pop layers and atmospheric production.

A Haunting Exploration of Love and Doubt

At its core, ‘Truth To Be Told’ explores the fragile moment when a relationship begins to unravel. GERD captures the emotional limbo between intuition and denial, as suspicion and secrecy slowly take hold. Lyrics such as “All I wanted was the truth, are you craving someone new?” reflect the vulnerability of questioning love while still clinging to hope.

The track’s dark, moody energy is driven by a steady, heartbeat-like rhythm that adds emotional weight throughout. As the song builds, a striking key change towards the end delivers a powerful mix of anger, freedom, and quiet devastation—leaving space for listeners to project their own experiences onto the music.

Speaking about the single, GERD explains:

“At the heart of ‘Truth To Be Told’ is the feeling of losing the vibrant light you once carried… The phrase ‘I used to sparkle in a room’ captures the moment you realise you’re no longer seen the way you used to be.”

Setting the Tone for a Breakout Year

With this latest release, GERD continues to cement her place as one of indie-pop’s most compelling emerging voices. The single offers a glimpse into what fans can expect from her forthcoming album More Water Than Anything, which is already shaping up to be a defining project in her career.

Her growing momentum follows a series of milestones, including being selected as a Spotify EQUAL ambassador in February 2026—an initiative that champions female artists worldwide.

Who Is GERD?

Born in Karlstad, Sweden, GERD (1995) has quickly built a reputation for her melancholic yet powerful pop sound. Influenced by legendary acts such as Queen and Kate Bush, she left formal education to pursue music full-time—a decision that has clearly paid off.

She first gained attention with her 2021 debut single ‘Lies For A Liar’, premiered by Zane Lowe, before releasing her EP In It To Lose. Her debut album Meet Me In The Blue (2024) further established her as a rising force in the indie-pop scene.

Since then, GERD has garnered international recognition, including editorial playlist placements across Apple Music in over 150 countries. Known for her dynamic live performances—ranging from orchestral stages to intimate pop-up shows—she continues to build a loyal and growing fanbase.
