BOXHALL City has announced the arrival of PATOIS, the vibrant Jamaican fusion kitchen led by Peckham-based chef Nikkai Whyte, as the latest trader to take over Kitchen No. 8 – BOXHALL’s innovative rotating chef residency in the heart of London.
Bringing something vibrant and fresh to London’s dynamic food scene, PATOIS celebrates the rich cultural fusion of Caribbean cuisine — with bold flavours influenced by Asian, German, and Chinese traditions.
PATOIS is the brainchild of Nikkai, a self-taught chef who began cooking from her home kitchen in Peckham in 2018. Originally launched as a side project, her food quickly gained traction, developing a loyal following and attracting diners from across the UK. With a name that pays homage to the Caribbean dialect of her heritage, PATOIS tells a personal story through every plate — blending flavour, identity and pride into a unique dining experience.
Customers can expect a menu that reflects Nikkai’s creativity and passion for reimagining tradition. Signature dishes include Dutty Curry Patties, Jerk Chicken Spring Rolls, and Jerk Mushroom Hummus – each one crafted with care, warmth, and unmistakable character.
PATOIS has taken over Kitchen No. 8, BOXHALL’s signature rotating residency space, which showcases some of the UK’s most exciting emerging chefs and culinary innovators. With each new trader, Kitchen No. 8 delivers an exclusive, limited-time menu that captures the pulse of London’s ever-evolving food culture.
Nikkai Whyte, Owner and Head Chef at PATOIS said:
“Bringing PATOIS to BOXHALL is a proud moment for me. I’ve been sharing my take on Caribbean food with Londoners for a while now, but this residency at BOXHALL gives me the chance to reach even more people and bring my dishes to a whole new audience. I’m excited to be part of a space that champions independent chefs and gives us the platform to grow and tell our stories through flavour.”
Matthew McMillan, Development Director at BOXHALL City said: “PATOIS perfectly embodies the spirit that Kitchen No. 8 represents – bold ideas, personal stories, and exceptional talent. We’re proud to be offering a platform for chefs like Nikkai to share their vision with a wider audience and introduce something truly fresh to the capital’s food scene.”
Located in the heart of the city, BOXHALL City is fast becoming one of London’s most dynamic dining destinations – combining cutting-edge street food with chef-led innovation in a vibrant, social setting. With the arrival of PATOIS, visitors can now experience a slice of Jamaica, reimagined through the lens of a new generation.
