Leading premium Portuguese wine producer, Symington Family Estates, is offering UK memberships to its highly sought-after community of wine lovers in Portugal – Matriarca.
For £750 per year, members receive a curated selection of six premium wines & ports biannually, have access to a private online wine shop with special offers and new releases, and are invited to exclusive events and wine tastings in the UK & Portugal.
Symington Family Estates is a five-generation family company that makes premium wines in three different regions in Portugal – the Douro, Alentejo, and Vinho Verde. Matriarca is a new members club inspired by the family’s original matriarch in Portugal, Beatriz, who married the first Symington to live in Porto, shortly after arriving in 1882. Half-Portuguese, half-British, Beatriz was known for her generosity of spirit and joyful gatherings around food and wine.
Matriarca is the Symington family’s ode to Beatriz. It is a community of like-minded people who share a love of Portuguese wine, food, and warm lifestyle. The family opened the Matriarca doors in October to its first 100 members in Portugal, and hosted a very special launch event with a private visit and lunch at one of their vineyard estates in the stunning Douro Valley. Matriarca is now launching in the UK, with 100 founding memberships available to lovers of Portuguese wine and culture.
For £750 per year, members will receive a curated biannual case of six different premium Portuguese wines & ports from the Symington family’s portfolio, with a few surprises from their wine producing friends in Portugal. Membership also provides access to a private online Matriarca wine shop, where members can buy older vintages, limited editions, and recent releases not readily available elsewhere in the UK.
As part of the Matriarca events programme, members will be invited to private events and wine tastings in the UK and an annual visit to one of the family’s estates in Portugal. When visiting Portugal, members can also enjoy discounts and benefits at the Symington family’s restaurants, cellars, and wineries, as well as a selection of their friends’ own establishments.
