England Football, together with EE, has today launched the Connected Club Cup, a new Esports FIFAÔ competition played between grassroots gamers across England.
Open to anyone over the age of 16, gamers will battle it out to be crowned the winner and play against England Footballers and EXCEL at Wembley Stadium connected by EE, the home of England Football, on 23rd August 2022. The live final, powered by EE Full Fibre broadband, will be streamed on England Football’s Twitch channel.
Entry and Qualifiers
The Connected Club Cup qualifiers will take place online on the 4th and 5th June, hosted by Battlefy, an esports tournament provider. To enter, visit: battlefy.com/connectedclubcup between 20th May until 4th June 1800 GMT.
Eighteen of the best gamers from the qualifiers will move onto the semi-finals.
Semi-Finals
The three semi-final tournaments will be hosted at one of EE’s Connected Clubs – grassroots football club where clubhouses will be turned into game houses using EE Full Fibre. Merseyrail Ladies FC, Chasetown FC and Worthing Town FC will host six players each on 12th June.
Proving EE Full Fibre can handle anything, the semi-finalists will compete in a two-leg round-robin (all-play-all) tournament, with each leg played on a different console.
The Connected Cup Final
The live final, hosted in The FA Club Box at Wembley Stadium on 23rd August, will welcome two grassroots gamers from each semi-final. Following the same round-robin format as the semi-finals, the six finalists can also test their skills against England Footballers and EXCEL. Streamed live on England Football’s Twitch channel (Twitch.tv/England), esports fans will be able to watch players trick, flick and spin it out to be awarded the Connected Club Cup trophy – and a host of amazing prizes including tickets to an England Football match, Wembley Stadium concert tickets and a yearly EE Full Fibre subscription.
EE’s Full Fibre has the strength to connect 100 devices with an ultrafast gigabit connection powered by BT. Offering lag free gaming through a seamless and reliable connection. EE Full Fibre allows you to watch a 4K show online, while playing games online, while in a discord call with friends or livestreaming on Twitch to your audience or community – all using less than half of what the connection could handle.
As lead partner of the Home Nations Football Associations, EE is focused on improving the lives of millions of players, coaches and fans across the UK. With grassroots clubs, the focus is to create closer football communities and opportunities through new digital and football skills initiatives. Connected Clubs is just one of those initiatives, and our ambition is to connect over 200 grassroots community football clubs across the Home Nations with a package of EE products and services, including wi-fi, broadband and landline.
