DJ FAT TONY TEAMS UP WITH RAY-BAN META TO REIMAGINE THE CLUB EXPERIENCE

Phones are officially killing the vibe — at least according to a new survey revealing that over half of UK clubbers think phone screens are ruining nights out. Pioneering British DJ Fat Tony is taking action, swapping smartphones for AI-powered glasses in a one-off event designed to bring back the magic of the dancefloor.

Club 2.0: The Future of Nightlife

Teaming up with Ray-Ban Meta, Fat Tony is launching Club 2.0 — an experimental club experience that bans phones but keeps memories alive through the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses (Gen 2). These next-gen specs feature HD photo and video capture, AI assistance, hands-free messaging, and even live translation, all wrapped in that classic Ray-Ban look.

The event takes over FRAMELESS Lates in London on Saturday 29th November, transforming one of its immersive galleries into an Ibiza beach sunset. Guests will step into a soundscape curated by Fat Tony himself, while testing out the new wearable tech in real time.

“Phones have been a blessing and a curse in my DJing life,” Fat Tony explains. “While I love capturing special moments, their overuse ruins the energy on the dancefloor. Clubbing is about connection — not screens. With wearable tech like the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses, people can live in the moment while keeping the memories alive. That’s the future of nightlife.”

The Problem with Phones on the Dancefloor

Although 55% of clubbers admit to using their phones on the dancefloor, most now agree it’s ruining the experience. Fat Tony, who famously banned phones from his sets eight years ago, believes wearable tech could finally offer a balance between capturing and living the moment.

Richard Relton, CEO at FRAMELESS, adds:

“FRAMELESS has always pushed the boundaries of art, technology, and experience. This collaboration with Ray-Ban Meta and Fat Tony lets visitors explore one of our galleries as a living, breathing dancefloor — where innovation meets creativity in real time.”

Preserving Club Culture

As someone who’s seen club culture evolve from the golden days of Ibiza to today’s tech-driven scene, Fat Tony remains optimistic:

“Preserving the magic of clubbing is everything to me. I want to look out from the booth and see people losing themselves in the music. It’s exciting to think that technology once feared to kill the dancefloor might now be the thing that saves it.”

Club 2.0 takes place on Saturday 29th November at FRAMELESS Lates, London.
