The limited-edition Freeze-Fit combines thermochromic fabrics, cooling technology and frozen Desperados to create a festival jacket unlike any other.
Festival dressing just got a seriously cool upgrade. Desperados has teamed up with acclaimed designer Paolina Russo to create the Freeze-Fit, a limited-edition festival jacket designed to keep wearers cool when temperatures rise.
Created in Amsterdam, the experimental jacket combines fashion, technology and Desperados’ new frozen drink innovation, Desperados Freeze, in an attempt to solve one of the biggest festival wardrobe dilemmas: do you actually need to bring a jacket?
According to research commissioned for the launch, 53% of festival-goers globally say unpredictable weather has ruined their festival outfit, while 26% have even left a festival early because of the weather. More than a third (35%) say concerns about their outfit in changing weather conditions stop them from fully enjoying the festival experience.
Meet the Freeze-Fit
Designed by Paolina Russo, the Freeze-Fit is much more than a statement piece.
The jacket uses the same frozen liquid innovation behind Desperados Freeze. Wearers place the frozen drink into a dedicated pouch inside the garment, where chilled liquid circulates through an insulated tube system.
Hidden dual fans positioned at the back of the jacket are designed to maximise airflow, while a drinking straw integrated into the collar allows wearers to sip their frozen Desperados without having to leave the dancefloor.
The result is essentially a wearable cooling system disguised as a bold festival jacket.
Fashion Meets Technology
The collaboration brings together Desperados’ playful approach to innovation with Paolina Russo’s experimental design aesthetic.
Paolina Russo, founded by designers Paolina Russo and Lucile Guilmard, is known for combining nostalgia, technology and innovative textile techniques. The brand has previously worked with names including Adidas Originals and Converse and was a finalist for the LVMH Prize and International Woolmark Prize.
For the Freeze-Fit, the designers have incorporated thermochromic materials, meaning the jacket changes appearance as temperatures shift.
That gives the piece a constantly evolving visual identity, with the colours and design responding to the changing conditions throughout the day and night.
It also taps into another festival fashion frustration: looking like everyone else.
Research found that 54% of festival-goers feel they see a lot of the same clothes and styles at festivals, while 45% of Gen Z say they find it difficult to find a unique item for the occasion.
With its bold colours, experimental construction and built-in technology, the Freeze-Fit certainly isn’t your average festival outerwear.
Designed to Beat the Festival Forecast
The idea behind the jacket came from a familiar pre-festival dilemma.
Bring a jacket and you could spend the day carrying it around while overheating. Leave it at home and you could find yourself wishing you’d packed it when the temperature drops later in the evening.
The Freeze-Fit aims to remove that compromise, allowing festival-goers to concentrate on the music, friends and atmosphere rather than constantly checking their weather app.
The launch comes as August enters one of the busiest periods of the global festival calendar, with Desperados also bringing its latest innovations to elrow festivals around the world.
Desperados says the collaboration reflects its wider approach to exploring the intersection between beer, music, fashion and culture.
A Limited-Edition Festival Fashion Piece
Only a limited number of Freeze-Fit jackets will be produced, with selected pieces being made available through a giveaway. Further details about how to enter are expected to be announced by Desperados.
Ligia Patrocinio, Global Head of Desperados, said the project was inspired by the universal question of whether festival-goers should bring a jacket, describing the Freeze-Fit as a way to “forget the forecast” and focus on enjoying the festival.
Paolina Russo and Lucile Guilmard added that the collaboration was a natural fit due to the shared focus on experimentation, colour and self-expression.
The Freeze-Fit follows the launch of Desperados Freeze, with the brand continuing to explore new ways of bringing its signature approach to nights out and festival culture.
