COVENT GARDEN BRINGS IN THE NEW YEAR WITH A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND NEW OPENING: BLOODSPORTS

Inspired by some of North America’s greatest exports comes BLOODsports, the latest opening from the team behind MEATliquor. Think Barney’s Beanery in LA and Best Intentions, Chicago (and about 50 spots in between) framed through a British lens – with a soupçon of anarchy thrown in for good measure.

The ‘watching bar’ is home to 30+ screens that will entertain customers with live sports action from across the globe day and night, with a smattering of its catalogue of horror films in between. Thanks to the venue’s late license, global sports fans can expect to catch their favourite games until 2am.

Designed with a good time in mind, the site will offer a plethora of entertainment beyond what’s on screen. BLOODsports is set up for karaoke any time, anywhere. But, if you’re mic-shy (we get it), then there’s a pool table as well as pinballs and arcade machines set up at the back. Or, for the movie buffs, there’s a Psychobooth (inspired by the Hitchcock shower scene) to snap pictures with your mates.

If horror isn’t your thing, but something sweeter and perkier is, fear not, as Hideout Coffee has you covered and will serve up caffeine and donuts for Covent Garden revellers daily from 8am till 8pm. This is the first time the unconventional coffee and donut shop is available outside of its famed, and Wes-Anderson inspired, Portsmouth abode. The BLOODsports logo is inspired by the site’s history as a stables, where elephants performing at the nearby Royal Opera House were kept beneath the floors in the cavernous stables in the 1930s.

“BLOODsports has been on the cards for over 10-years, it’s just been a case of waiting for the right site. It’s inspired by the best of the dive and sports bars I frequented when I lived in the US – with a carefully curated dash of horror films and our rock solid MEATliquor food menu with some BS specific dishes. In short, it’s a one stop fun shop…”

Founder, Scott Collins

Elsewhere in the 120-seater bar, you can expect a menu stacked with MEATliquor classics such as the legendary Dead Hippie burger and appetizers, Monkey Fingers. There’ll also be some epic new exclusive entries on the menu including the classic Chicago Dog and ‘The Ripper’ a hotdog wrapped in bacon and deep fried.

Also exclusive to BLOODsports, will be its ‘Bloods & Drips’ menu. The ‘Bloods’ features a line up of the tomato-based drinks, perfect for warding off the worst of hangovers, alongside the classics from negronis to martinis. From the Bloodless Mary Martini (Clarified) to Micheladas – there is something to soothe every sore head in the city. The best part: the ‘Bloods’ can be ordered with a side of bacon. Whilst the drips will feature the classics from negronis to martinis.

The wider drinks menu will include a punchy line up of cocktails and slushies. From fan favourites such as the Long Island Iced Coffee,  alongside a few exclusive items including a ‘House Salad’ (definitely not one of your five a day) as well as boozy slushies, highballs, boilermakers and beers.

What’s more, the bar has a late-night license meaning that you can enjoy food and drinks through the night up until its 2am closing time, seven days a week.
