London’s luxury dining scene is set for a major moment this spring as China Tang at The Dorchester welcomes acclaimed Japanese bartender Hiroyasu Kayama for an exclusive one-night-only guest shift on 4 March 2026.
The event marks Kayama’s first-ever appearance in the UK, forming part of Bar Benfiddich’s 2026 UK Tour, hosted by Akashi-Tai. For cocktail lovers and hospitality insiders alike, this is one of the most anticipated London bar events of the year.
From Tokyo to Park Lane: Bar Benfiddich Lands in London
Kayama is the owner of Bar Benfiddich, widely regarded as one of Japan’s most respected cocktail destinations. Currently ranked No.18 in The World’s 50 Best Bars, it holds the title of the highest-ranked bar in Tokyo.
Bar Benfiddich has built an international reputation for its deeply individual approach to mixology — rooted in craftsmanship, seasonality and meticulous technique. Kayama’s drinks are known for their precision and balance, blending carefully sourced ingredients with thoughtful preparation methods that elevate every serve.
The London takeover has been organised by China Tang’s Bar Manager Erik Lanza and Assistant Bar Manager Levs Surovecs, who continue to expand the bar’s creative programme through international collaborations and evolving seasonal menus.
The Exclusive Cocktail Menu
For one night only, guests can experience a specially curated six-drink menu:
-
Four cocktails by Hiroyasu Kayama
-
Two signature creations by Levs Surovecs
The menu will spotlight premium Japanese spirits including:
-
Hatozaki Whisky
-
Akashi-Tai Sake
Guests will also be welcomed with a complimentary glass of sparkling sake, courtesy of Akashi-Tai.
Cocktails will be priced at £20 each, with Japanese fruits and speciality garnishes supplied by Avanti Asia to ensure authenticity and quality.
A New Chapter for China Tang’s Bar Programme
The Kayama takeover forms part of a broader spring refresh at China Tang.
From 1 March, the bar will extend its opening hours, inviting guests to linger later into the evening for a more relaxed post-dinner experience. Then from 18 March, weekly live music will launch every Wednesday at 8pm, bringing added atmosphere to one of Park Lane’s most glamorous spaces.
Since opening in 2005, China Tang has set the benchmark for fine Cantonese dining in London. Conceived by the late Sir David Tang, the restaurant blends 1930s Shanghai glamour with contemporary British refinement — from its Art Deco entrance to its lavish private dining rooms and statement bar.
