CHERRY BOMB’S “SORRY YOU’RE NOT SORRY” IS A GLITTERING DISCO-POP BREAKUP ANTHEM OF SELF-LIBERATION AND REINVENTION!

Los Angeles-based solo project Cherry Bomb, created by Mandy Lee, is back with a bold new release titled “Sorry You’re Not Sorry” a disco-infused pop anthem that transforms heartbreak into high-voltage self-liberation.

Continuing her evolution from alt-pop powerhouse fronting MisterWives into a theatrical solo force, Cherry Bomb leans deeper into maximalist pop, blending shimmering synths, dramatic violin flourishes, and euphoric disco energy.

A Disco-Pop Soundtrack for Closure and Self-Love

At its core, “Sorry You’re Not Sorry” is about reclaiming emotional independence and stepping away from relationships that no longer serve you.

Mandy Lee explains the meaning behind the single:

“It’s for the pivotal moment when you stop begging closed doors to open and make peace with the grief that comes with choosing closure over receiving it. It’s no surprise pain and pleasure are processed in the same part of the brain and perhaps that’s why I often blur the line between the two in music.”

The result is a track that turns emotional release into something euphoric — where grief and confidence coexist on a glittering dancefloor.

A Visual Spectacle: The Haus of Cherry Takes Centre Stage

Accompanying the single is a striking new music video featuring the Haus of Cherry — a collective of dancers, drag performers, showgirls, and theatrical divas.

The video builds a surreal, neon-drenched universe inspired by cult classics such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet. Feather boas, towering heels, and ballroom grandeur define its aesthetic.

Lee describes the visual concept as a form of transformation:

“The Haus Of Cherry dismantles a world I didn’t feel love and acceptance in, and it puts it back together anew… Shame has no home in Cherry Bomb’s church — only love and community.”

Early Praise From Music Press

Early reactions to “Sorry You’re Not Sorry” have been glowing.

Music publication Atwood Magazine praised the track as a “disco-drenched pop exorcism,” calling it:

  • “seductive and sparkling”
  • “lavish, camp-fueled”
  • “a glittering, feverish celebration of self-liberation”

They also highlighted the video’s expansive visual world, describing it as a “whole universe of maximalist grandeur and wicked play.”

Cherry Bomb’s Growing Pop Universe

“Sorry You’re Not Sorry” follows a string of releases that have shaped Cherry Bomb’s bold new sonic identity.

Previous singles include:

  • “Digital Girl” – a Y2K-inspired synth-pop anthem exploring digital-age resistance
  • “Never Be Me (M★ther★cker)” – a vibrant debut introducing Cherry Bomb’s “popera” style

These tracks have been praised for blending high-energy pop production with theatrical storytelling and emotional depth.

Live Debut at All Things Go Festival

Cherry Bomb will make her solo festival debut at All Things Go Festival in New York City, joining an all-women-led lineup that includes artists such as Carly Rae Jepsen, MUNA, Grace Ives, and hemlocke springs.

The performance is set for September 27, marking a major milestone in Cherry Bomb’s solo evolution.

A New Era for Mandy Lee

With over a decade leading MisterWives, Mandy Lee has built a reputation for dynamic vocals, emotional storytelling, and high-energy live performances across global tours and multiple albums.

Now, Cherry Bomb represents a new creative chapter — one that merges theatrical pop spectacle with emotional honesty.

The project promises a future filled with synth-heavy anthems, bold visuals, and unapologetic self-expression.
