BROADBAND GENIE PARTNERS WITH PURPL TO UNLOCK EXCLUSIVE BROADBAND SAVINGS FOR DISABLED PEOPLE IN THE UK

Broadband comparison service Broadband Genie has partnered with disability savings platform Purpl to launch exclusive broadband, mobile broadband, TV, and landline deals for disabled people across the UK. The initiative offers crucial financial relief as household bills continue to rise.

According to a recent Purpl poll, 86% of UK residents are worried about their winter utility bills, while 90% of disabled respondents say their costs have increased significantly over the past year. With nearly a quarter of the UK population living with a disability, this partnership could generate over £3.4 billion in collective savings.

How the Exclusive Deal Works

Disabled customers who join Purpl can access tailored broadband deals from both major UK providers and smaller networks via Broadband Genie’s comparison service.

Members can choose from broadband-only packages or combined bundles including phone, TV, or SIM plans.

The savings breakdown:

  • £183.60 average annual saving when switching via Broadband Genie

  • An additional £30 gift voucher from major retailers such as Amazon, Tesco, John Lewis, ASDA, M&S, and the Sainsbury’s Group

  • Total first-year saving: £213.60

To receive the discount, users need to sign up to Purpl and verify their disability status using documentation such as:

  • PIP

  • DLA

  • Blue Badge

  • Disabled Bus Pass

  • Disabled Persons Railcard

  • Access Card

Verification is typically completed within an hour, after which members receive an exclusive code redeemable directly on Broadband Genie’s dedicated Purpl page.

Essential Savings as Living Costs Rise

The partnership arrives at a time when disabled households are experiencing heightened financial pressure. According to Purpl, 44% of members want greater cost-of-living support, including increased disability benefits or utility subsidies.

Broadband Genie’s expert Alex Tofts urged customers to switch rather than remain on outdated contracts:

“No customer should have to settle for overpriced broadband or below-par service. Switching your broadband deal may sound daunting, but it’s actually stress-free.”

Tofts also encouraged eligible users to explore social broadband tariffs, which offer reduced monthly rates for people receiving benefits or Universal Credit.

Purpl: Supporting the Disabled Community

Purpl was launched in July 2024 by Georgina Colman, who lives with multiple sclerosis and ADHD. Her goal was to create a platform that helps disabled people cut everyday costs—from essentials to lifestyle spending.

“Living with a disability can be expensive,” Colman explained. “I’m very pleased we can help our members with something as essential as their broadband.”

Purpl members can also access deals from brands such as Morrisons, Hoover, EDF Energy, Expedia, Green People, Debenhams, and hundreds more. The platform additionally provides advice and guidance tailored to disabled people and carers.
