BRITISH SANDWICH WEEK 2026: CAFÉ MAMA & SONS AND MAMA LI LAUNCH LIMITED-EDITION ADOBO DUCK SANDWICH

London’s food scene is getting a bold new flavour hit this May as Café Mama & Sons teams up with Mama Li to celebrate British Sandwich Week with a limited-edition creation: the Adobo Duck Sandwich.

Available for one week only from 18–24 May, the collaboration brings together Filipino comfort food and authentic Hong Kong-style roast meats in one seriously flavour-packed sandwich.

A Filipino and Cantonese Fusion Worth Trying

The Adobo Duck Sandwich combines Café Mama & Sons’ signature Filipino-inspired cooking with Mama Li’s traditional Cantonese siu mei expertise. The result is a rich and savoury sandwich layered with tender roast duck, aromatic herbs and spices, crispy onions and fresh cucumber, all served inside Café Mama & Sons’ soft house-made pandesal sando bread.

The duck is dried for 48 hours before roasting, helping create a deep flavour profile with crispy skin and juicy meat. Fully halal, the sandwich balances salty, sweet and umami flavours while showcasing the creativity behind London’s growing fusion food movement.

Inside Café Mama & Sons’ Viral Sandwich Concept

Located in Kentish Town, Café Mama & Sons has built a loyal following thanks to its inventive take on Filipino bakery culture mixed with Japanese-inspired sandos.

Founded by restaurateur Omar Shah, the café draws on more than two decades of experience across London’s hospitality scene. Every item is made in-house using the brand’s signature pandesal dough, a fluffy Filipino bread used across both sweet and savoury dishes.

The café has become known for pushing boundaries with cross-cultural flavour combinations while still staying rooted in Filipino traditions.

Mama Li Brings Authentic Hong Kong-Style Roast Meats

Joining forces for the collaboration is Mama Li, a popular London spot specialising in authentic Cantonese roast meats and comforting cha chaan teng-style dishes.

Founded by Catherine Hua and her mother, the restaurant focuses on family recipes and traditional cooking techniques. Their menu includes classics such as crispy pork, BBQ pork, soy chicken and roast duck, making them the perfect partner for this British Sandwich Week special.

Where To Try the Adobo Duck Sandwich

The limited-edition Adobo Duck Sandwich will only be available from 18–24 May at Café Mama & Sons in Kentish Town. With both brands known for attracting queues and social media hype, London foodies will want to move quickly before it disappears.

Fans of fusion cuisine, halal food and unique London sandwich spots should definitely add this one to their must-try list for British Sandwich Week.
