Bottega 35 Brings Tuscan Comfort and Exceptional Pasta to Kensington High Street

There is no shortage of Kensington restaurants promising fine Italian fare, but none achieve the level of character, hospitality, and sheer authenticity that Bottega 35 does. As has increasingly become expected from Alberto and Arian Zandi’s Emerald Hospitality Group, a visit to their establishment feels closer to an immersive experience – and in true Tuscan fashion, there is absolutely no risk of leaving hungry.

Taking over the former Zuaya site, Bottega 35 has shifted the location’s focus towards handmade pasta, wood-fired grills, and Italian wines, fostering a relaxed neighbourhood dining vibe with a distinctly elevated edge. Dark wood interiors channel those of a Tuscan country home, pairing soft lighting, textured finishes, and intimate art-filled corners with the steady hum of visitors from the cobbled path just outside – its Mediterranean influence flooding the rooms and the menu alike.

With a focus on excellence in delivery of traditional staples, the antipasti can easily form the base for a small plate sharer meal. The standout Melanzane Parmigiana folds soft baked aubergine layers into a rich tomato sauce, and finishes generously with a melted mozarella topping. The Taleggio Arancini with mushroom is a safe bet and a true crowdpleaser, and the House Focaccia is a must for the table, with the special Bottega 35 take elevating the bread with mozzarella and onion.

The restaurant shines with its mains, with the Pappardelle Ragu as a real highlight. All pasta is freshly handmade at Bottega 35, and this dish is served with a rich, aromatic slow-cooked meat sauce that adds warmth and heartiness. The Black Truffle Mafaldine is another fan favourite, delivering an element of theatre as it is muddled through a 24-month Parmesan wheel. For a brighter option that’s perfect for a Spring/Summer order, the Gnocchi Pesto with basil and buffalo mozzarella should be the go-to here.

Alongside the pastas, the grill offers spectacular Lamb Cutlets with rosemary and olive oil that burst with flavours of the Med, and from the seafood section, the Garlic Prawns with Datterino tomatoes and olives would be our top recommendation.

To finish up on an indulgent note, the Pistachio Cheesecake is what you’ll want to order, though if you prefer a lighter sweet bite, the Cannoli selection takes care of that. Of course, if you’d selected the Black Truffle Madaldine earlier for the theatrical ‘wow’ factor, the Bottega Tiramisu is its dessert equivalent, assembled tableside and delivering the rich mascarpone-heavy finish you find in authentic Italian households.

If you are looking for a refined Italian restaurant in Kensington that captures the all-round experience, Bottega 35 gets the balance of flavour, portions, and vibe exactly right. The menu stays rooted in comfort and familiarity, elevated through strong ingredients and confident cooking – making Bottega 35 stand out as one of the area’s most satisfying openings of 2025.
