The ice cream brand has launched Ice Dreams, a limited-edition collection of cooling pillowcases designed to help Brits keep their heads cool at bedtime. And, naturally, they come packaged in tubs inspired by some of Ben & Jerry’s most recognisable flavours.
From Cookie Dough to Phish Food and Half Baked, the unusual sleep accessories bring the brand’s signature sense of fun into the bedroom.
What Are Ben & Jerry’s Ice Dreams?
The concept is surprisingly simple. Each Ice Dreams pillowcase can be placed inside the freezer for two hours, before being slipped over your pillow at bedtime.
Made from 100% cotton, the ultra-soft pillowcases are designed to provide a refreshing cooling sensation when temperatures rise, giving sleepers an alternative to repeatedly flipping their pillow over in search of that elusive cool side.
The collection comes in three designs, each inspired by a classic Ben & Jerry’s flavour:
- Cookie Dough – for those who want to chill out without overheating.
- Phish Food – designed to help you dive into a deep-sea sleep.

Brits Are Desperate for a Cooler Night’s Sleep
The launch comes as many Brits continue to struggle with warm summer nights.
Research commissioned by Ben & Jerry’s through OnePoll found that 60% of Brits say flipping their pillow to the cool side is crucial for getting a good night’s sleep.
Meanwhile, 42% say they are already fed up with the summer heat, while 72% are ready to put summer behind them and welcome the return of cosy season.
The findings come as searches for “head cooling” have reportedly risen by 70% this month, highlighting the growing interest in ways to stay cooler at night.
The Science Behind Cooling Your Head
According to Clinical Psychologist and Behavioural Sleep Medicine Expert Dr Zoe Gotts, cooling the head and neck can play a role in helping the body prepare for sleep.
“When you cool the head and neck area directly, you’re doing more than simply making yourself comfortable, you’re tapping into one of the body’s key signals for sleep: temperature,” Dr Gotts explained.
Cooling the head can help with heat dissipation and thermal comfort, particularly when someone is struggling to sleep because they are too warm.
Rather than forcing yourself to fall asleep, creating a more comfortable temperature may help the body’s natural sleep system take over.
So, while a frozen pillowcase won’t magically solve every sleepless night, it could certainly make a hot summer evening a little more comfortable.
From Ice Cream Tub to Bedtime
Ben & Jerry’s has built its reputation around the idea of the ultimate chill, and Ice Dreams takes that concept far beyond the freezer aisle.
Seren Wilson, Ben & Jerry’s Director of Ice Dreams and Dough-ziness, said the brand wanted to create a “two-pronged thermal approach” to late-night indulgence – combining a scoop of ice cream with a chilled pillowcase.
The result is arguably one of the more unexpected branded launches of the summer.
