BARBS BRINGS A TASTE OF BARBADOS TO SHOREDITCH WITH ITS FIRST EVER CHRISTMAS MENU AT QUEEN OF HOXTON

Barbs — the UK’s first authentic Bajan fast-casual restaurant — is celebrating its very first festive season at the iconic Queen of Hoxton with a brand-new Christmas menu that blends classic seasonal comfort with the bold, sunny flavours of Barbados.

The Shoreditch restaurant, which opened earlier this year in partnership with Queen of Hoxton, has quickly become known for its scratch-made dishes, family recipes and a dedication to showcasing the richness of Bajan cuisine. Now, the team is bringing that same spirit to the festive period with a line-up of limited-edition dishes.

A Bajan Twist on Christmas Comfort Food

The new Christmas specials take inspiration from island cooking while keeping things unmistakably festive. Each dish features Barbs’ signature house-made Bajan cranberry sauce, crafted in-house using island-inspired seasoning for the perfect sweet-savvy balance.

Christmas Menu:

  • Deep Fried Brie
Golden, melty and indulgent — soft French Brie coated in crispy breadcrumbs and paired with Bajan cranberry sauce.
  • Crispy Cauliflower Bites
Cauliflower seasoned Bajan-style, dusted in cornflour and topped with cranberry sauce, crispy onions and sage crumb. Vegan and gluten-free.
  • Chicken Wing-Mas
Festive chicken wings with sage and onion crumb and a generous drizzle of Bajan cranberry sauce.
  • Turkey Christmas Cutter
A hearty winter favourite. Packed with tender turkey breast, spiced Christmas slaw, pork scratching, gravy mayo, sage & onion crumb and cranberry sauce in a soft potato bun. Gluten-free option available.
  • Portobello Christmas Cutter
A vegetarian twist on the classic Cutter featuring a juicy Portobello mushroom with Christmas slaw, corn scratching, gravy mayo and Bajan cranberry sauce. Vegetarian and gluten-free option available.

These festive specials appear alongside the restaurant’s staple favourites — from the Bajan Fried Chicken Burger to Mac Pie Balls, Bajan Roti Wraps, Fishcakes, and the Instagram-famous Piña Colada Waffle — all made using traditional techniques and family recipes.

Guests can also expect the brand’s full line-up of house-made sauces, including Fancy Sauce, herby Mayo, Barbs Tomato Ketchup and the crowd-pleasing Bajan Hot Pepper Sauce made with cucumber, mustard and turmeric.

A New Festive Era for Barbs at Queen of Hoxton

“This is our first Christmas at Queen of Hoxton and we wanted to create something that feels festive while staying true to who we are,” explains Nicc Wright, Founder of Barbs. “These dishes bring together familiar Christmas flavours with the seasoning, brightness and warmth of Barbados.”

Queen of Hoxton — one of London’s most recognisable nightlife and culture hubs — continues to be a fitting home for the vibrant Bajan brand.

“We are pleased to see Barbs bring its first Christmas menu to life in our space,” adds Andy Maddocks, Managing Director of Mothership Group. “It feels unique, thoughtful and full of flavour.”
