KATIE TUPPER SHARES NEW SINGLE “SAFE GROUND” AHEAD OF DEBUT ALBUM GREYHOUND

Canadian singer-songwriter Katie Tupper has unveiled her new single “Safe Ground”, the final preview ahead of her highly anticipated debut album Greyhound, due for release on January 21 via Arts & Crafts. The track arrives as a tender, soul-soaked meditation on platonic love, grounding connection, and emotional constancy in the midst of life’s inevitable change.

“Safe Ground” stands as an unshakeable promise to a best friend — a reassurance that no matter where life leads, there will always be a place to land. Anchored by Tupper’s smoky alto and understated instrumentation, the song blends soul, indie, and alternative R&B, with a subtle folk influence that nods to her prairie roots.

“This is my platonic love song,” Tupper explains. “I wrote it to my best friend about how lucky I feel to know her. It is my promise to her to always be a safe spot for her to land.”

Fans can stream “Safe Ground” now on platforms including Spotify and Apple Music, with an accompanying video also available to watch.

A Final Glimpse Into Greyhound

As the final single ahead of Greyhound, “Safe Ground” offers a clear window into the emotional world of the record. Often compared to artists such as Olivia Dean and Charlotte Day Wilson, Katie Tupper uses her deep, expressive vocal tone to explore love in its many forms — romantic, platonic, and deeply tied to place.

Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Tupper’s debut album unites the open landscapes of her upbringing with the broader perspectives gained from years spent in cities and on the road. Greyhound reflects that duality, balancing expansive prairie imagery with the intimacy of personal confession.

Speaking about the album’s title and central metaphor, Tupper shared:

“Greyhounds that race on tracks are given these parameters and rabbit decoys to chase that are unreachable… I am often both the Greyhound and the decoy — chasing something unreachable and being the thing that cannot be caught.”

That tension — between desire and fulfilment, motion and stillness — runs throughout the album.

An Artist on the Rise

Despite Greyhound being her first full-length release, Katie Tupper has already built an impressive résumé. She has amassed over 22 million streams worldwide, earned a JUNO Award nomination for Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, and sold out headline shows in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago ahead of her official US debut.

The album was produced by Tupper’s touring partners and long-time collaborators Justice Der (Rachel Bobbitt, Dylan Sinclair) and Felix Fox (BADBADNOTGOOD), and is described as a deeply confessional body of work — one focused on lessons learned and what we choose to leave behind.

A Homecoming Record

Following her previous EPs Towards The End (2022) and Where To Find Me (2023), Greyhound feels like a homecoming. Love sits at the heart of the album — sometimes messy, sometimes playful, always honest. It’s an album that feels like a late-night conversation with your closest friend: reflective, self-aware, and quietly cathartic.

As Tupper rides into 2026 with her debut album in hand, Greyhound positions her as one of the most compelling new voices in contemporary soul and alternative R&B.
