More than just a new streetwear brand, the nine-piece collection was created through Chivas Venture, a global programme that shines a light on grassroots community initiatives, empowering and supporting the next generation of creative entrepreneurs.
The collection has been designed by South African streetwear legend, and Grade Africa founder, Zaid Osman, and four hardworking emerging designers (Sabelo Shabalala, Josh Badenhorst, Robyn Agulhas and Lindiwe Modiselle). Together, they proudly designed and produced an impactful clothing line. With sustainability at its heart, the collection is fully sourced and manufactured in Africa, supporting local employment.
Key pieces within the collection include:
-
Homage Jersey – celebrating South Africa’s rich rugby heritage, a sport that truly brings the country together.
-
The Valley Two Piece – inspired by the valleys of Scotland and the mountains in Cape Town – the merging of two worlds into one unified story.
-
Grade School Varsity Jacket – the playing cards are inspired by the hustle generation – no matter what cards are dealt, they need to be played to create a better future.
-
Fisherman Hat – inspired by the fishing culture in South Africa, representing a whole culture of hustling and hardwork.
Proceeds from the sales of the collection will be given back to the designers’ own businesses and donated to the Grade Africa Foundation – whose mission is to eliminate extreme poverty and bring unique opportunities back home to Africa. The collection is available at GradeAfrica.com (& Chivas.com) and ships worldwide, priced from 249 – 2,699 ZAR (12 – 128 GBP).
