Xi Home Serves Up Traditional Christmas Specials and Festive Donuts

Xi Home Dumplings Bay is bringing a new take on the taste of Northeastern China to East London this festive season, with the launch of its limited-edition Christmas specials.

From the start of December, the Spitalfields restaurant will be serving even more dishes inspired by founder Wenjun’s childhood, reimagined with her signature East-meets-West approach. The new offerings celebrate traditional flavours, crafted to capture the warmth and nostalgia of winter celebrations from across the world with a contemporary flair. Here’s a snapshot of what you can enjoy:

Deep-Fried Shredded Radish Balls: A beloved holiday staple, serving up a crispy shell with a soft interior, seasoned and sizzling in hot oil.

Prawn and Fish Roe Wontons with Chilli Oil: Tossed in Xi Home’s signature dry-mix sauce and finished with fiery chilli oil for a punchy, flavour-packed bite.

Clay Pot Braised Beef Short Ribs with Tomato and Sweet Cabbage: Tender, fall-off-the-bone ribs inspired by Wenjun’s grandfather’s winter stews, blending Northeastern heartiness with Western slow-braising techniques.

Osmanthus-Stewed Pear: A delicate dessert with pear gently stewed in golden osmanthus syrup, paired with osmanthus cream cheese and jelly for a floral, East-meets-West finish.

To add to the festive treats, Xi Home also introduces a two-part Christmas donut range. The Christmas Wreath Donut features a savoury New Orleans chicken filling and decorated dough, while the second donut offers a festive white-and-red design with Dubai chocolate-style pistachio filling. Priced at £7 each or two for £12, the handmade donuts can be collected from the Spitalfields store. They make the perfect self-care treat or the ideal gift, to be given alongside bottles of Xi Home’s handmade chilli oil (£8.50), dumpling-making class vouchers (£49.46), or branded merchandise including mugs, tote bags, and fridge magnets.

Xi Home has thoroughly earned its place as East London’s go-to spot for the city’s best dumplings, bringing Northern Chinese home-style cooking to the city. The Spitalfields restaurant focuses on merging traditional flavours with inventive techniques, creating a menu that delights both regulars and newcomers alike, with its focus on quality, creativity, and seasonally inspired dishes.
