WHICH TEAM WILL BE CROWNED the Fifa Global Series TEAM OF THE SEASON CUP CHAMPIONS?

The inaugural EA SPORTS FIFA 22 Global Series (FGS) Team of the Season Cup is set to take place this week from Friday 29 April through to Sunday 1 May – with 32 of the world’s best esports teams set to go into battle to be crowned champions.

The tournament will be hosted in London with the prize pool set at $500k; a record-matching figure for FGS competition. The winning team will take home $100k, with the top two finishing teams also earning a spot at the FIFAe Club World Cup.

Some of the biggest EA SPORTS FIFA 22 names in global esports are set to compete, with former FIFAe Club World Cup Champion Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt representing FNATIC, alongside Diogo Mendes, and the 2018 FIFA eWorld Cup winner Musaed ‘Msdossary’ Al Dossary partnering with Ivan ‘DrNightWatch’ Churov for Team Falcons.

Other notable players include Spencer ‘Gorilla’ Ealing and Tom Leese, representing EXCEL ESPORTS, and Brazilian duo Paulo Neto and Vini Leiva, playing for Atlanta United FC.

Tekkz, said: “I’m excited to play in the first Team of the Season Cup this weekend, in what should be one of the toughest competitions I’ve ever played in. With 64 of the best FIFA players in the world set to be there, I know that Diogo and I will need to be on our game if we’re to walk away with the trophy. It’s an exciting challenge, I’m buzzing to get going!”.

The tournament will be played exclusively on PlayStation 5 and in a 2vs2 format, with teams split into eight groups made up of four teams each. 24 of the 32 teams will progress, with the top three from each group progressing to the Championship Double Elimination Bracket.

Msdossary said: “This weekend’s tournament truly is a team-based competition. The 2vs2 format adds a completely different dynamic, with the relationship with your teammate critical to your chances of success. It’ll be a different experience but one that I’m really looking forward to.”

New to FGS competition, through the Twitch Command Centre, viewers will be able to flip between four broadcasted streams, meaning that they can catch all of the action and follow their favourite players throughout the tournament.

Action across the 3 days will be broadcast on Twitch.TV/EASPORTSFIFA and YouTube.com/EAFIFAESPORTS, with the Grand Final scheduled for 21:00 BST on Sunday, 1st May.

Viewership Rewards will be in place throughout the weekend, for viewers with linked Twitch and EA accounts. By tuning into one hour of action, viewers will be eligible to receive an FGS Swap Token, which can be redeemed for a pack reward.
